lovely hotel and beautiful grounds

The hotel is lovely and the staff wonderful, particularly the ladies who work the buffet breakfast. The grounds are really well-kept and the hotel is only a few blocks from the main drag in El Calafate. Every map we looked at made it seem so much further away than it actually is -- it is a less than 5 minute walk. My only advice with regard to the room is to turn the heat down the minute you arrive. Like nearly every restaurant, store, or public building in town, the hotel keeps the rooms extremely warm. We had to open the windows (to the 30/40 degree outdoors) most days to get the room temp down enough to sleep comfortably.

Calm nice hotel close to city

This hotel was very beautiful and peaceful. It was kept clean our room was amazingly large and comfortable. Great value for the price. Only a 3 block walk into the main avenue, I would highly recommend it!

Excelente hotel.

El hotel está muy bien ubicado, ya que está a unas cuadras caminando de la calle principal. Tiene una vista maravillosa desde todas las habitaciones, ya que esta rodeado de un ambiente completamente natural, la habitación era muy espaciosa, el baño también; todo muy limpio y decorado con muy bien gusto. El desayuno delicioso, y sólo probamos el Restaurant las nubes, que esta riquísimo, el otro por falta de tiempo no lo hicimos, pero seguro que estaba muy bien. Y la amabilidad del personal hace que la estadía fuera perfecta.

A really nice place to stay in El Calafate

This place is a little haven in El Calafate, set in lovely gardens. We stayed for three nights in the dead of winter when there are few tourists about and we think we were actually the only people at the hotel. Attentive and friendly staff, very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. A good breakfast. The only irritation was the lack of any tea and coffee-making facilities in the room - if you wanted tea or coffee you had to call room service, which is a bit excessive. The only other minor complaint was that the large fitness center with a well-equipped gym, decent-sized pool, sauna and spa - which seemed to be open all afternoon and evening in the off chance that we would wander in - was a bit too warm. The restaurant is supposed to be very good, but we went out to eat both nights. Warning: by mistake we found ourselves eating one night at the huge grand hotel-type place up on the hill as you come into town from the airport (I can't remember the name of it but you can't miss it) - avoid it, the food was not impressive, the atmosphere dreary and it was overpriced. We're very sorry we didn't eat at least one meal at Los Sauces. Highly recommended. I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in El Calafate.

Great Choice for El Calafate

The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful and accommodating. The grounds are lovely and there are a variety of buildings with different room types. We stayed here before and after a hiking trip, so we had 2 different rooms. They were both comfortable and tastefully decorated. They have 2 choices of restaurants for dinner on the grounds. We ate at the grill and the service was excellent as was the food. This place is convenient to the main part of El Calafate - maybe 4 or 5 blocks away.
