One of the comfiest beds ever! We had a lovely time, thank you!
Great location for getting out and about to see Durham.
Lovely owners and everything there that you need including a lovely cake and milk and tea/coffee for a brew when you arrive!
Decorated to a really high standard.

This was a very nice comfortable place. We had a little trouble finding it. Was easy to check in and out of. The only suggestion I would make was to put the exterior patio lights on a timer so that they turn off at night— if it’s hot and you have the window open then you have all the light from the patio. But it was very clean and comfortable.

A very lovely place to stay while in Durham. Plenty of amenities. Good communication. Great location the pub. Just a few houses up. Had quite amazing food as well. If you're in town for a while, make sure you check out this great opportunity.

The lovely, quiet location of Brandon Village
The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area.
The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay.
The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!!
Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little hideaway!!

What a gem! We loved our stay in The Hen House, it was beautifully designed and very well equipped. The location was ideal for us, only short drive into Durham, and a very short walking distance to The Pub and Kitchen where we ate one night. We were able to park directly in front, and we enjoyed sitting on the bench outside the house to enjoy the sunshine. Brilliant!

Well equiped cottage close to Durham
Overnight stay and much cheaper than in Durham itself. Large unit with a washer/dryer which was extremely useful on a long trip. Good view from bedroom window, nice pub across the road. Friendly host. Would also have been good for a longer stay. Only suggestion would be a clearly visible name plate as it was hard to tell which house was which.

Lovely
The cottage is lovely and a very nice area to stay not far from Durham city. However, the cleanliness of the cottage could have been better we found there was rose petals and drinks bottles around and under the bed along with hair from previous people on the carpets. However, overall was lovely with private off street parking and the owner is lovely.

The loft
Was quite hard to find but after about 40 mins and a phone call to the owner we found it. A lot of renovation work being done to the property around the loft which we booked so was a little noisy.
The loft which was a lovely place, milk and tea and coffee and biscuits left for us which was lovely. Lovely modern place. Bathroom was a little dirty. Bed was really comfortable. It could do with a lot of touch ups around the place but overall an okay stay.

Excellent communication, particularly at such short notice. Quiet and safe location, but still close to Durham. Collecting the keys couldn’t have been any easier! Great facilities at the property, perfect for a short stay!
We only stayed for one night but found everything was to our liking, especially the cake that was left for us. It made us forget that the bed was not made. But it was a lovely bed. Our grandson got a very good note at the end of his studies. Success all round.
A little tricky to find. The map and directions given in Expedia take you to the wrong side of the road and about 4-5 properties too soon. We had to call the owner, to go the final 30 metres or so.
The ‘Hen House’ was really a self-contained, stand alone unit. It had a dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, comfy bed and great shower.
Not sure how easy to reach without a car but we were only about 5 mins drive from Durham city centre. It was loads cheaper than staying in town and after a few weeks of travelling and having to hand wash items, it was great to do a couple of loads of washing and get it dry.
Generally nice cottage- obviously recently refurbished. Very quiet. One decent sized bedroom and one tiny bedroom - suitable for 12 year old and under. Our 16 year old felt a little cramped. The owner was friendly and loaned me a hairdryer when I couldn't find one at the property and provided milk, a selection of tea bags and a biscuit for each of us. The cottage was generally clean but slightly too much evidence of other people made me feel that maybe not a totally thorough job had been done. There was a pair of earrings on one of the bedside tables, some vegetable remains in the kitchen plughole and the bathroom bin had not been emptied. It had a toothbrush and a toilet roll core in it. The cottage is a few miles from Durham and I think that next time I would choose to be in the centre.
