Was upgraded to a suite which was great. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Good location near the river. Can I suggest a signage at the glass door? A sign at eye level will be helpful...before the Maan coffeehouse as I passed by it without realizing it is the entrance.

Great Apartment at a pretty river central location

Location of hotel is great, right next to the pretty river, a little way from the shopping / dining area with interesting small shops and noodle shops around the service apartment. Our 2 bedroom apartment is huge and very comfortable; and according to my sister, the rooftop garden is a wonderful place to chill. Check in was a drag as they only have 1 staff and we found out that the one poor staff was also a temp, which explains the long wait on the check in and also no help given for WIFI and other in-room queries we had till much later - so we had bit of a wait in our room for that. All in all, great 1-night stay! *Special Note:The unfortunate thing about Chengdu is the whole 'Don't accept foreign credit cards' and no foreign exchange services for RMB even in the banks; let alone at the hotel nearly ruin our entire last few days in China. Thankfully, we met a tour guide who helped us by our being our 'foreign exchange'

A comfortable hotel at reasonable price.

A comfortable hotel at very reasonable price. The apartment is big with living room and kitchen. The kitchen has all the facilities one can think of including dinner set and utensils. The washing and drying machine is particularly useful. We are also grateful for the free tour on saturday to interesting places such as the panda resort and the 3000 years old Jinsha archaeological museum, but spending four hours at the Buddhist temple is very boring. The location is good as it is near the metro. However, there are no shops or good restaurants nearby. The restaurant at level 3 is not recommended as the quality is below expectation. The chicken rice we ordered is probably the worse ever tasted, and the chicken is not fresh. It is much better to eat at the Maan Coffee next door. The coffee is good there but the choice of food is western and limited.

Home away from home

Somerset Riverview Chengdu is only 10 minutes by cab to some of the best historic sites in Chengdu - WuHouCi, Jingli, Kuan Jai Xiang, Tianfu Square, Chunxi Road etc. It's in a respectable location next to Si Chuan University and downtown Chengdu. Rooms are fitted for comfort and convenience, with kitchenettes and washing machines. To top it all, the staff are warm and accomodating. We booked our first few nights at Chengdu at Somerset Riverview, then decided to return again after a trip outside Chengdu. It really felt homely!
