Amazing totally restored hotel with highest quality fit and finishes. Loved the lighting and fireman memorabilia in room. Town has a lot to do and close to beach walk and sunsets.

Great spot to stay. Walking distance to beach. Lots of jade shops nearby. We had a nice dinner at Stumpers. We drove to glow worm dell since it was dark and we didn’t want to walk along the road. Only 3 minutes away by car and easy and pretty walk to see the glow worms. Accommodations were nice with great views from Chief McFarland room. Corner room. One side saw mountains and other see town with sliver of the beach. Laundry room downstairs was so helpful midway through the trip. They even have detergent. The dryer takes a while but has a 1 hour quick cycle. It was being used so we dried in the room and it was dry by the morning. I would stay again.

This was a brilliant looking accomodation. Tidy, clean, had everything we needed but found there wasn’t enough air flow through it and so it had a stagnant smell from the moment we got to the top of the first floor stairs - then into our room. We also found that we could hear many room doors opening and closing - which seemed a little annoying.

The property itself could not have been better - easy to find and access after a long day's driving, warm and comfortable. The surrounds could not have been more disappointing. We knew from several previous days of disappointment that it was shoulder season on the West Coast, but could you please not pretend that local restaurants are open until 10pm when they laugh at anybody asking for dinner at 8pm. I mean we had learned by Monday that 10pm clearly was not true, but we foolishly assumed that turning up two hours earlier than the times given in your in-room info might work. It did not, and nothing about your vastly superior accommodation will induce me to ever again visit a town that clearly doesn't care about anybody other than coach tour groups.

Beautifully appointed studio with the friendliest staff. Location was perfect, parking easy, and the use of a real washing machine (meaning one that washes in more than 25 mns for clean clothes) was a bonus.

The Hokitika Fire Station is a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable, spacious, clean, complete with all the amenities we needed and wanted. We'd happily stay there again and regret only staying for one night. It is in a good location with parking just behind the building. The beach is a short walk away as is the main street with various dining, drinking and shopping options. We think it is great that a historical building has been preserved in such a way with a strong tie to it's history and the local community.
