Unique living condition out of the norm

It’s a very interesting stay for the night. I love how creative it can be living in a silo. The design was amazing, the kitchenette, the toilets the top level where the bed and baths were. Somehow level 2 was able to retain more heat I’m not sure why, it is winter period now. Level 1 is freezing. If you are relaxing at level 2, you’ll have to go down to level 1 if you need to use the toilet.

Interesting concept hotel but lacks human touch

The concept of SiloStay is interesting. I like the fact it aims to be eco-friendly. Overall pleasant stay except no one is there to help you with luggage (you need to climb some stairs to get into your room), toilet is downstairs while bedroom is upstairs (inconvenience if u need to go to the loo at night), location is also out of the way from Akaroa. There is nth much to do at Little River town. No food options at night too... Bed is comfortable.

More than a gimmick

Stayed here for 1 night in February and loved it. There are loads of design touches that make this accommodation great, including innovative space saving solutions that you'll wish you had at home if you live in a big city. The furniture and décor are new and modern.They also have a modern approach to service - we didn't need to speak to anyone at all before, during or after our stay. The location is fantastic, a short drive from the beautiful Banks Peninsula. Minor negatives were that the room got cold at night (even during summer) and Little River itself is a very small town with minimal amenities. The shop / café on the other side of the museum is great though, loads of high quality local produce and really nice food from the café. As with most places in rural NZ it closes early.

Fantastic and Quirky

This is a wonderfully quirky and fun experience which I highly recommend. The burgers at The Little River Inn were also wonderful, as was the breakfast at the little River Cafe. We would happily have stayed longer. Love the toilet and shower, plus a comfy bed. The only issue was there was some slight difficulty in getting the TV signal, but really it was just a beautiful experience.

It was a fantastic experience staying in the Silo and the overall stay was interesting. The Silo was clean and tidy and well presented. The creativity of the build is super and designed with maximising space! A great place to stay and highly recommend.

Fun, quirky place, fine for a short stay. Only complaint was the odor when we entered our unit…disinfectant or insecticide perhaps. Had to sleep with door open to mitigate smell. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Great concept, very well built and quite creative with lots of novel ideas. Built 10yrs ago and kept really clean by the current owner. A place we will remember in a very quiet area. Located on the main road, however there were no traffic at all at night. There is no AC, we had a 30C day and the Silo was too warm upon our arrival (one of my fear). However there are fans on both floors that helped cool the place quickly. We had a great night with the patio door open. So no AC was not a worry! A must see IMO.
