A english dream

Porlock ist ein wunderschöner idylischer Küstenort. Das Cottage Wychwood ist perfekt gelegen, um zu Fuß den Ort und die Gegend zu erkunden. Die Zimmer sind liebevoll und hochwertig eingerichtet. Es gibt ausreichend Platz im Haus. Ein gemütlicher schön hergerichteter Innenhof, läd zum Verweilen ein. Ein Cottage rund um sich wohl zu fühlen. Herzlichen Dank Andy. Porlock is a beautiful idyllic coastal town. Cottage Wychwood is perfectly located for exploring the town and area on foot. The rooms are lovingly furnished to a high standard. There is enough space in the house.A cozy, beautifully prepared inner courtyard invites you to linger. A cottage all about feeling good.Thank you very much Andy.

Beautiful cottage in Porlock

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage which has been refurbished to a high standard. It is well equipped for a family or group to stay. Easy walking distance to a number of pubs and shops. Excellent communication made our whole visit successful.

Wonderful week

Very comfortable house with everything we needed for a family week with infant. The house was clean, warm and comfortable. We never used the fireplace however all the neccessary wood available. Lots of local places to eat - great location. We would be happy to visit again. Many thanks,

Wundervolle Unterkunft im Herzen von Porlock

Für uns (2 Familien mit 3 Teenagern) war dieses liebevoll eingerichtete und sehr praktisch aufgeteilte Haus ideal, um eine tolle Woche im Exmoor Nationalpark zu verbringen. Es ist wirklich alles vorhanden, was man braucht., das Haus ist neu renoviert und sehr sauber. Thank you, Andy!

A wonderful stay

Superb cottage, great location, plenty of space

Wychwood is a fantastic cottage and a great place to explore Exmoor from, although there is plenty on offer within a stones throw of the cottage if you prefer to keep it local! The cottage is well equipped and finished to a very high standard, with plenty of space and four really good sized bedrooms. The cottage was exactly as advertised, spotless throughout, and the communication with Andy was superb, which ensured we had a really smooth check in/check out process and settled in easily. The only minor issue (and it really is a very minor one!) for us was the small freezer space, but Andy had made us fully aware of this in advance so we could plan our food shop accordingly. All in all I would highly recommend Wychwood and we would certainly love to stay there again. Cheers Andy!

Delightful house in Porlock Village

The house has been refurbished to a very high standard and provided comfortable accommodation for our family of four adults and two children. The situation was perfect and gave easy access to shops, pubs etc in the village and also to several local walks. Exmoor and the beautiful northern coastline of Somerset and Devon were within easy reach. We would be very happy to recommend this holiday accommodation,

Nice Stay

The house is very well presented and comfortable. Very nice bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. Kitchen has what you need and is a nice space as is the lounge. We were 5 adults and the space was very comfortable for us. Andy the owner is very responsive to queries and very helpful. The house is just off the main road through Porlock which gives direct access to all amenities easily. Although the down side is that there is a lot of traffic noise throughout the day and early evening and because The house has the original windows at the front the traffic noise is heard in the lounge and first floor front bedroom and you do hear noise from the adjoining house which is also a holiday rental. There is a restaurant/take away directly opposite the house and the kitchens fan can be heard clearly during the day and evening. Rooms at the back of the house are however quiet. Porlock has all the amenities you need in terms of shops, restaurants, pubs etc and it’s a short walk to the beach and some wonderful scenery, and the local area is lovely.

Wonderful family stay

We all had a lovely stay, the property was beautifully presented, spotless and well equipped for a great family holiday. Andy the owner communicated promptly at all times and nothing was too much trouble. The house is perfectly positioned for easy access to the great local amenities but also a lovely walk down to the sea. Just perfect. I would definitely recommend booking a holiday here.

Beautiful property in the heart of Porlock

Spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed, bigger than the photos suggest, everything you need in terms of facilities. In the heart of Porlock with easy access to the coastal path to Porlock Weir. The owner was easy to deal with and responded quickly to any questions. Check in smooth. Really is a fab property, we are all missing being there loads. No parking but easy to find a space on the road and loading/unloading no issue. We will be back :-)

Great cottage in the centre of Porlock

Great cottage in a fantastic location right in the centre of Porlock and less than a mile down to a lovely pebbly beach. The owner couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. Fabulous surrounding countryside and as keen cyclists loved all the hills ..Porlock Hill, just a couple of minutes away!!!! Would recommend walking a stretch of the South West Coastal path, if you get chance (Minehead to Porlock), which has good paths and great views over the Bristol Channel out to Wales. Also, Exmoor Adventures runs fantastic Kayak tours around the coastline, including into the saltmarsh with lots of wildlife for interest. Porlock Weir is great for a little potter around and a quayside coffee, looking out to sea. Lynton and Lynmouth only a short distance away, both also beautiful, and Dunkery Beacon fabulous at night for stargazing. Would recommend that parties of 10 chat to the owner make sure you understand the sleeping arrangements and set up for sitting down to eat together in the cottage ahead of booking. Great cottage and fantastic part of the world, which I'd love to return to. Would definitely recommend.

Stunning cottage in the centre of Porlock

The house was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. Porlock is a quant, friendly village on the coast very near to sites of interest. The Landlord was so helpful and only a call away if we had concerns. A special highlight of the property is the view of the sea and surrounding village. We also enjoyed making use of the patio table for morning coffee! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again!

Great Location & Property

Perfect rental house. Clean, all the mod cons and right in town yet also only a 5-minute walk from the beaches/walks in the area. Owner was very friendly too. My only slight criticism would be on check-in. We had a 4 hour drive and then went for a 2 hour walk; we timed it to be finished at 4pm so we could check in, but it then took us an hour to receive a call back from the owner. We were pretty damp and tired, but had to camp out in a local tea room until we heard back. When he called we discovered the key was available via a simple lockbox, so we didn't even need to have spoken to the owner. I'd, therefore, recommend the lockbox details are posted in the booking details for future guests, or, if you are a guest, contact the owner in advance for the lockbox code. I am sure this is an easy thing to rectify and would not let this discourage you from visiting this lovely property in a beautiful part of the world.

Well appointed spacious house in vibrant village

The house is luxurious, spacious and relaxing. Right in the heart of Porlock, so easy to access shops and restaurants. Andy the host communicated well and was committed to ensuring we had a good stay despite a problem with Internet connection at the start. Highly recommended.

We are natives of Windsor, Berkshire where we were born and grew up. We love it here but we also love escaping down to the beautiful Exmoor National Park whenever we can.

Growing up in the country on a working farm in Berkshire, England has left me with a love of the British countryside and the beautiful wildlife that resides here. We fell in love with Exmoor National Park after our first visit and could not stop returning over a period of about 5 years. One day in October 2016 we stopped in Porlock for some lunch and stumbled upon Wychwood cottage which had just finished being refurbished to a beautiful standard and just so happened to be for sale. The decision was made there and then to purchase this beautiful cottage as a holiday home for our family and within 6 weeks we owned it. We keep the home for our use during certain weeks throughout the year and let it for the rest. We are very proud of the cottage and ensure that it is kept in beautiful condition for your enjoyment and relaxation.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Wychwood Cottage is set in a beautiful location right in the centre of Porlock village but also hidden away enough that it feels very private and peaceful. The cottage keeps its beautiful period features such as original sash windows, log burning stove and beautiful period stonework but also enjoys a fresh and modern interior with all of the latest comforts such as Nest controlled heating and high speed internet. It is only a short walk to the beach and if you are feeling a little more adventurous it is not that far to Porlock Weir which is a beautiful walk along the coast path with stunning views. The local walks are many and varied with breath taking scenery in every direction. Exmoor is a truly beautiful location.
