Little oasis near Puerto Viejo

My family and friends had a great time at the Villa! The pool was a hit and at night restaurants are very nearby. Wonderful garden and very nice deco! We enjoyed to see birds, monkeys & more while sitting in the garden.

Awesome Villa, great location

Best of both worlds – all the comforts of home yet in the jungle. Central location, close to all beaches. Staff was very responsive and helpful. This house worked perfectly for 3 couples, two kids and another adult. Very spacious, clean and architecturally pleasing. Witnessed an amazing movement of about 30 howler monkeys across the tall canopy of trees around the house one morning.

Villa Cabu

Great Villa! We loved the accommodations; clean, spacious, and private. The villa was difficult to find on arrival as we arrived at night and there is no markings on the road/driveway. The property managers were readily available by phone to guide us to the villa. The villa is conveniently located in walking distance to the beach, cafes, and shops. We highly recommend the Villa Cab!

FANTASTIC

The house was gorgeous. The pool was cleaned every morning. The master closet was huge as was the kitchen. The backyard was the best thing of all. We saw monkeys in the trees, toucans and other birds and we had agouti's living there. It was fabulous. Definitely would love to stay here again.

Beautiful experience

We had an amazing stay at Villa Cabu. The backyard is wonderful. It does get extremely hot and unfortunately there is no AC. The two rooms got a lot cooler than the master. It wasn’t a major issue but something to consider

Beautiful Property

My family and I stayed in this lovely home on our visit to Costa Rica. The house was beautiful and the staff was very helpful when we contacted them. There was a mama sloth in a tree in the backyard that I took photos of for two days. When I was just about done taking photos I spotted the sloth's baby....so amazing! The only thing that would have made this house a 5+ would have been if there was a washing machine and dryer for renters to use. A rental house should have all of the luxuries of a home so the washer and dryer would have made it perfect. We were told we could have laundry done at $25 per load which we thought was too expensive. I would have rather paid a bit more for the rental and been given access to the washer and dryer that was locked in the housekeepers closet. Thank you!

Gorgeous property

This beautiful house is surrounded by lush jungle and wildlife. Stunning. There is no A/C, but the house is well ventilated. Most nights were cool, only 1 was a bit hot. Wifi was reliable for the most part. This is an eco-friendly property so you cannot flush any paper products. We did not have any cleaning services during our 4 night stay. It would have been nice to have had the garbage removed and towels replaced. No laundry. The pool area is spacious and was cleaned every morning. The beach is not easily accessible and the water was too rough during our stay, however Punta Uva is less than a 10 minute drive away and has a spectacular beach. Lots of great restaurants and shops in town. Great vacation area and I would definitely recommend this property for a group of less than 10. Property owner was very responsive.

Customer Service Issues

I have owned a business (dental office) for 14 years, and know sometimes things just don't go well with the patient/customer experience. Well, we had an experience like that at Villa Cabu... Every day of our stay, except 1, we were without water on the property. On 3 separate occasions the water went out while someone was showering. On 2 separate occasions it went out as we were preparing meals, leading to us aborting mission and going out to eat. Now things happen, I know... and our family is pretty easy going and tolerant of surprises. But this was quite a disturbance to our stay, but again we rolled with it and enjoyed ourselves. However, I was very disappointed to hear that the management of the property refunded us 215 to compensate us for the great inconvenience we experiences. In the end, what makes my experience with this property poor, is the way management dealt with this unforeseen problem. Offering us 215 doesn't even come close to fair compensation for what we dealt with. We spent 3.5 times that amount just eating out at restaurants because we were unable to prepare our own meals with the water outage. The property was nice, and we loved many aspects of it. The host was also very responsive and helped the best he could, given the circumstances. I just wouldn't trust that if something goes wrong you'll be reimbursed or compensated appropriately for the inconvenience. And to me that is worth looking to another property for your stay.

La casa es espectacular, la cocina es super grande y linda! La piscina la tienen en perfecto estado, siempre limpia! La casa esta rodeada de arboles espectaculares. SE puede ir caminando a la playa de enfrente , que es preciosa!! Hay detalles que se pueden mejorar en cuanto a limpieza. Pero si volvería a quedarme en esta casa.

Séjour magnifique! maison très propre, intime. Que dire du réveil avec les animaux! Seul bémol, il y a 2 douches dans la maison. Une seule fonctionnait. (2 douches eau chaude, les autres à l'eau froide) Malgré 2 visites faites par le réparateur, rien n'était arrangé. Tout simplement pas d'eau. À 8 personnes, la gestion des douches était compliquée! Nous n'avons pas laissé ce détail affecter notre voyage :) Je recommande!

Gorgeous jungle villa next to the beach

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful house! It was actually the best house we were renting in Costa Rica and it’s even nicer in real, than the pictures. The location is just perfect, it’s in a jungle, we saw so many animals right in our garden, howler monkeys, poison dart frost and even a sloth with baby and Toukans. The sounds of the jungle at night are most wonderful. The beach is in only five minutes walking distance and it’s actually one of the nicest beaches we saw in Costa Rica. The managers are super helpful, every time we had a problem they reacted right away and were very helpful. The only thing I would want differently if it would be my house are the sliding doors. The screens can only be fully opened or closed, because of that insects can come into the house. We had a Tarantula the first night in the bedroom, but housekeeping took care of it. Most houses in Costa Rica are built like that and apart from that the house was super clean. The cleaning ladies came in every second day to wash the towels and clean everything very thoroughly. We can only recommend this house and would love to stay there again!

Nice but…

The house is beautiful, very clean, and the landscaping is stunning. However, the constant noise of weed wackers, leaf blowing, yard maintenance and music from the adjacent properties was a bit of a drag. Also, we added 2 more guests to our stay a few weeks prior to our arrival, and for whom of course, we had to pay extra. However, 2 days before their departure they tested positive for Covid and were not allowed on any plane. The place where we stayed at a few days before getting to Villa Cabu offered to refund us their stay, even though they had a no refund policy. Here they didn’t even offer a partial refund. We did have a friend from Fortuna come stay the night prior to our departure so as to drive us to the airport the next day, so paying for him made sense. There is a “no refund” policy on Villa Cabu’s agreement, but we never did cancel our actual stay which originally was only for 2 people anyway, so it would have been nice to be offered some kind of a discount for our loss, like the original property did. It’s just poor business etiquette, and a main reason why we will return to the other property on our next trip but not this one. Furthermore, we have stayed at 48 different places throughout all of CR, from 5 star to treehouse, and although we always leave the place extremely clean (from gathering all garbage, to stripping the beds), we have never actually been asked to take out our garbage and clean all the dishes, especially considering the fact that we were charged cleaning fees, a service that we actually cancelled because we didn’t want people in and out of our “space” due to covid. But if you don’t have any issues with the above statements, then Villa Cabu remains a beautiful home to stay at.

Great house for families with or without kids

Our 2 boys loved being so close to the jungle and hearing all the jungle sounds. They also really took advantage of the pool. The house is large and accommodated 4 adults and 2 active boys. The cleaners come twice a week and do a great job.

Wonderful home, great location, nature everywhere

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 college age children) had a wonderful stay at this villa. The home was private, beautifully decorated and has all of the amenities we needed to enjoy our time in Costa Rica. The backyard was full of nature and we watched toucans each morning eating papayas off the trees. The location is very central to all the activities we did. While close to beaches, I would recommend a bike or car to get around. The property manager also was very responsive and assisted us in arranging surfing lessons, which were great. I would definitely stay here again!

Amazing Property

Villa Cabu is an exceptional property with top of the line modern amenities located near all the wonderful beaches. The house itself is located in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by the jungle. One morning we sat and watched more than 20 Howler monkeys move through the trees right above the backyard. We saw Toucans and many other extraordinary Birds right from the comfort of the patio. Our contact Gabriel was awesome, he gave us detailed driving instructions to the property and check-in was a breeze... It was difficult for us to leave this amazing property, we plan on returning someday as soon as possible.

PERFECT HOUSE TERRIBLE NOISE AND FACILITIES

We chose this house specifically to get away from the city and be in a little bit of jungle. Unfortunately an identical house is being built literally a few metres away from this one. The builders started hammering and using electrical tools from 7 am. So this was not really a vacation, totally stressful. We felt cheated because it was very clear that the managers were aware of the situation and most probably being built by the same owners in the same plot of land. The correct way to offer this property is to be honest and let the guests choose. Also we had virtually no hot water for 3 days, and when this was "resolved" we were left with a trickle. Also the internet was unusuable (not the case anywhere else in Puerto Viejo). The property managers offered us to move to a lovely house by the main road for 3 days and then pack up and move back to the original property. We decided not to because of the inconvenience and also the noise of traffic from the main road. We travel a lot and use house rental services nearly always. This has been the worst experience we have had by far. This house is totally focused on being a business, they offer this large house at a starting price but that is only for 2 people, then you have to pay more for the rest of the family and even to use the washing machine. This is not common in any property. Lovely house but no love involved in renting it out.

Thanks for your comment Karen. About all this situation, first of all we are property managers and we did offer you to change you to another property from the second day of your stay. We prepared that property (cleaning, pool maintenance, gardening) on a Saturday for you to be able to change on Sunday until Wednesday afternoon, and spend just your last two nights in Villa Cabu, understanding that the noise of a neighbor construction can be a problem, even when VRBO told us and TOLD YOU that there is no obligation of us to inform about construction that is in other property or land. After preparing the other property for you that Saturday, a way better property with better facilities, you refused to change and continue complaining about the noise of the neighbors. you decided to contact VRBO to put a complain, and even VRBO turned down your complain giving us the rights and the reason. What we are pretty sure if that we acted in the right way, giving you solution to a unconfortable situation even when that situation is not our fault. We don´t own the neighbor property and the only contact that we have with them is through the builder that is in charge of the project. The owner don´t even live in the country so it is difficult that we already know them. And again, even VRBO gave us the reason . Sincerely we would never recommend you as a guest... Hope you have better luck next time in your vacations and find a property suitable to your expectation.

Beautiful home

Beautiful home with a screened open air concept. We loved having nature right in the backyard. There were howler monkeys and a sloth in a large tree in the backyard. They were fun to watch in the mornings. There is a camera in the main living space which is not disclosed in the original listing but was told to us after booking. Other then that the home was great. We even left a sweater behind and Marco was kind enough to mail it back to us!

Great house, great location

Villa Cabu is a great new home in a great location. The home is beautiful, the pool is refreshing, the beds are comfortable. We had a group of eight (four couples) staying at the house for four days. Check-in was simple, when we asked for more towels they were delivered promptly, and when one of the sinks stopper was stuck they came to repair it promptly. We could not ask for a better host or a better home. Thank you for sharing it with us!
