Jessica was the perfect host! Very friendly and accommodating. Property is magical: gorgeous gardens and certainly an old world feel! Best feature in my opinion is the cozy wood-burning fireplace. Beware that two of the bedrooms are upstairs and can be accessed only by a narrow staircase. The beds are comfy and plenty of outlets for charging devices. One thing about the location is that there are minimal transport options if you don’t have a car of your own. If not then you have only a few buses a day (none on Sunday’s) to get to the downtown Marlborough area for shopping or dinner out. otherwise it’s a great stay!!!

Cute cottage stay
We loved our stay, the house was cute, tastefully decorated and true to the era it was built in, as per the photos. Jessica went out of her way to help us after we had transport difficulties and was an excellent host.

The cottage was quaint, cozy and comfortable. The stairs were quite steep, but easily navigated by our family. Jessica was very welcoming and gave us great tips on where to eat. Ours family enjoyed her friendly dogs.

What a wonderful stay
This is a most idillic property.. Think the “The Holliday” cottage coupled with a wonderfully comfortable bed and ancient standing stones on the doorstep.
Jessica is a wonderful host and made our stay very comfortable… when we arrived a roaring fire was set and a warm welcoming cottage.
You really won’t go wrong

A lovely house in a beautiful spot
A really lovely house in a beautiful peaceful location. Comfortable ( especially the beds) and cosy. So nice to be able to go for walks straight from the front door and an ideal spot for visiting Avebury and other ancient sites in the area. The owner was friendly and helpful. Would love to return.

Serene!
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here. The cottage is charming and immaculately clean. The beds are large and comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting in the garden and exploring the many footpaths nearby. Jessica was attentive and available whenever we needed something, but we also felt we had all the privacy we could want. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Like a Fairytale
We stayed with family and friends, including 2 teens and we can’t say enough about how lovely the cottage is. It’s conveniently located to all the famous sites in the area and a short walk to the local pub. Sitting by the fireplace after a rainy hike was one of the many highlights from our stay. We will definitely be back. Jessica was a super host in the truest sense.

Fabulous cottage. Very large rooms, considering age of property. Beautifully clean, comfy beds with crisp, white bedding.Bathroom has stand-alone shower which is powerful, as well as a bath with shower attachment (we did not use this). Kitchen is as described. We didn't need anything extra, but it is worth saying that there is no microwave or air fryer, if these are important to you.Check-in is very easy - turn up and go in. This is not a high crime area. The property may be a little difficult to find in the dark, however, as Google maps wanted to take us quite a way away, and what3words tells you to stop on the main road and walk across a field(!). When booked, I recommend viewing the maps and dropping a pin - ignore where Google wants to send you. Also note that although wifi is excellent inside the property, there is no signal outside at all, so you may not be able to call the owner if you get stuck.Nice pub 5 mins walk away in the village which does food. Avebury and Lacock are really easy to get to for sight seeing, and Malborough is really close for some shopping / cafe culture.

Family friendly
The house was ideal for our family group, 2 couples and 2 little ones. Host was exceptionally friendly and kind. Had a cot for the baby and actually purchased a highchair for our convenience as well. The location is ideal for exploring the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Stonehenge and Bath and all surrounds and close to easy access from London. Great local pubs and near a playground. Certainly recommend.

Truly Gorgeous! - Just watch your head! :-)
Our stay here was absolutely amazing. Communication with Jessica was fantastic and she is such a joy!
The house is absolutely everything you would want from a Cotswold Cottage. The location is perfect for a base from which to make daily day trips all around the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
Just be sure to watch your head if you are like me, over 6 ft tall. I bumped mine a few times, but honestly, it just was all part of the charm of an amazing and historic property.
Without question, I can recommend staying here, and it would sleep 6-adults very comfortably!
Thank you Jessica, we LOVED our time in your cottage!!

Pure magic
Our family of five (mom and dad, kids aged 11, 9, and 6) stayed here for two beautiful days. This house is magical and our stay was 100% worth the drive from London. Scrupulously clean; comfortable beds; with all the kitchen amenities we needed. We spent a wonderful day exploring the neolithic sites of the Avebury World Heritage Site, which are very close by. A Waitrose is available for groceries in nearby Marlborough. There is a small playground across the street that our children really enjoyed. Our host Jessica was helpful, responsive, and kind. We cannot recommend this special place enough – would return in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Unspoilt Location
We stayed in this charming cottage for a long weekend. There are some lovely local walks and woods and you are near Avebury and Marlborough. The local pub was shut which was a shame, but it was due to open in a few days. The host is friendly and available, but you also have the freedom and space you need to settle in and relax. There are two calm dogs which my son adored and even my daughter, who is scared of dogs, took a shine to them. Sadly the rain was out in full force all weekend but there are three double rooms and some games in the cupboard and we got out when there was a break in the clouds!

An Idyllic holiday
The cottage was just what we expected, picturesque, clean and with all the amenities we needed for the week. Jessica was a great host and made sure our stay was comfortable. Her two dogs casually accepted us and wandered in and out at their leisure. A nice touch. The wood burner was a great feature and made the cottage extremely cosy in the evenings. The local pub was in walking distance, with great staff who made us feel very welcome. The food and drink menu meant we came back to it most evenings. The cottage is excellently placed for trips to Averbury and the surrounding area, which has many interesting and beautiful things to see. Overall, a great holiday in a great cottage. Thanks Jessica, and of course, Iris and Grace.

Comfortable stay in cottage from history
My sister and I stayed here with our elderly parents (85 and 77). The location was convenient for day trips to Bath, Cotswold, Stonehenge and the magna carta in Salisbury. The house was spectacular and cozy. My parents stayed on the ground floor (the upper level where my sister and I stayed requires steady feet). Jessica had a fire going when we arrived and my dad was thrilled. He loves a wood stove and this made him very comfortable. We cooked breakfast every morning in the small but fully functional kitchen. This was a perfect setting for the launch of our tour of England and Scotland. If you arrive after dark, be sure you've looked at the property on Google earth so you know your way around.

Comfortable, Cosy, Charming Cottage
We wanted a quiet, rural retreat in a character cottage and this place totally delivered. It may not be for everyone, but we knew what we were getting when we came. The house was built in 1710. The cottage, with its thatched roof has all the character you could ask for. The kitchen and bathroom are modern, well equipped and the sitting area is comfortable. There's a spacious downstairs bedroom that was has been added with two large bedrooms upstairs. The beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed the wood stove on cool evenings and the connectivity and video options. There is no cell service. Lockeridge is an attractive, friendly little village with a good pub. It is only 4 miles from Marlborough, which is a delightful old market town with many eating and shopping options. Just a couple of things to know going in: the ceilings in the kitchen and sitting area and the doorways are what you would expect when it was built. In other words, my head touched the ceiling and I had to duck under the beams and doorways. (I'm 6'2") Also, the stairs to the bedrooms on the first floor are treacherous - narrow treads, with a curve at the bottom, and the risers are exceptionally high. They are not for anyone with mobility issues. Our host was friendly and helpful. Wiltshire is beautiful with rounded ridges offering views and islands of woodland between the pastures. Lots of historical properties and gardens to explore. If this is what you are looking for, we recommend it!

Exactly where we wanted to be
Misty mornings, a kettle, and two wonderful dogs that stopped in occasionally to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I cannot overstate how utterly perfect our stay was, other than being too short. Speaking of too short, if you are of above average height, you will find the ceilings quite low. My wife and I are most assuredly not of above average height, so it was a delightful novelty to be able to touch the ceiling.
Anyway, the property is half the building (the left half, if you're looking at the front), and the owner lives in the adjoining half. She was a great host, and her off the cuff suggestion to visit Avebury on our way back to London ended up being a highlight of our trip.
There is a nice wooded walk just a short distance up the hill past the playground, and the pub down the Who'd A Thought It pub--itself a gem--is a very short walk down the street. The property is not exactly *close* to anything, but it's *convenient* to an astonishing number of things, far too many to do in one short visit. Marlborough is an easy 10-minute drive for groceries, and the home has a small refrigerator, a full stove and oven, and a small dishwasher, as well as dishes, utensils, glasses, etc. No microwave. Internet access was fast and reliable, and we honestly didn't bother with turning on the TV so I can't report on that.
There are places you encounter in your life that ... fit. Something about them combines warm memories of where you're from with the most hopeful ideas of where you could be in the future. Staying at this property and everything around it was like that for me. It didn't just feel like home as much as it felt like what I wanted home to be. And, for the record, I would go back right this second if I could.

Heaven on Earth
Words and pictures are not enough to properly convey the tranquility and magic of this cottage. So peaceful and relaxing, this cottage was exactly what the doctor ordered. Waking up to the horses grazing in the pasture across the road, and the endless walking trails all around. Every evening we lit a fire and curled up on the couch. I wish I never had to leave. We are already talking about returning again and again in the future.

The cottage has been in the family for many years. It belonged to my late mother, an artist who painted the local area. Her creativity and eye for detail is evident in the cottage that she restored over the years and it's garden which she designed and planted.
After 30 years of living and working in London as a market researcher, I took the plunge and gave it all up to live the dream here in the country. My days are busier than I had imagined, tending to guests, the house, garden as well as my dogs is a full time job, but very rewarding. I love this life; the outdoors, feeling the seasons change, getting my hands dirty in the garden, raising turkeys, horse riding or whatever is my latest craze.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
History, beauty, charm, cosiness and authenticity.
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
This is a magical place, both the cottage and the surrounding area are steeped in history and beauty which give it an amazing feeling of timelessness and continuity. The local history starts in pre-historic times; Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, to being on the edge of the Viking invasion where the Anglo Saxons of Wessex held them off. There are later Elizabethan manors, and grand estates of 16th and 17th centuries, etc..
The cottage, which is two adjoined cottages, were cowmen's cottages as this was dairy country. They were built for the workers of the local farm in the village back in the 1660's and were purchased from it by my parents 300 years later.
Nowadays there is underfloor heating downstairs downstairs and central heating upstairs, so you can enjoy the history with all the modern comforts you need. Being a listed building, everything is done with conservation in mind and without interfering with the old feel and beauty of the place.
You can walk out of the front garden, through a gate, and into National Trust owned fields full of Sarcen stones, or take the track across the road up to the West Woods. From there you can continue walking to the edge of the downs and see Iron Age Hill Forts. You can walk to Avebury Stone Circle through a Sarcen stone valleys and across the Ridgeway. Or you can drive!
