Too noisy
Before booking this apartment, we were told by Wonderful Italy that Apartment Vatticani faced an internal courtyard. We also checked it out on Google Maps. So it was a shock to find that on arrival, the apartment was only a few metres from a rooftop restaurant and directly above a laneway occupied by a jazz bar. When we asked the young man from Wonderful Italy who greeted us on arrival, if it was in fact a bar he said no. If you like jazz and you want to listen to it, plus crowd noise, through the night then this is the apartment for you. From the main bedroom you can hear the jazz bar patrons clearly chatting and laughing below, together with the jazz music. The music on our last night continued till 2am. Also the windows from the living room and kitchen look directly onto the rooftop restaurant, so if you want privacy at night, you have to close the shutters. Wonderful Italy also pocketed six euros for the city tax. Apparently we had already paid this via our booking.
The apartment is spacious with basic equipment in the kitchen. If you are staying for any length of time, you will need to bring all the basics such as salt and pepper, oil etc. Only one bin liner was supplied. The one air conditioner is at one end of the apartment and the main bedroom is at the other, so it has limited effect for sleeping comfort. There is a pedestal fan in the bedroom. We stayed two nights. The apartment is in a great location, but if you want a restful night's sleep this is not the place to stay.
