Historic Elements

>Muazzo Historic Residence had the honour to welcome some of the most important figures of modern Greek history. The Residence now belongs to the Moatsou (Moazzo or Muazzo) family, which has its roots in Venice, however it became known in the 20th century as “Villa Askoutsi”. Nikolaos Askoutsis (1892 – 1955) who was brother of Maria Moatsou, comrade of governor Eleftherios Venizelos (1864 – 1936), lawyer, politician, and first Secretary of Transport of post-war Greece, spent a big part of his life here. Friends and colleagues would visit him in the Residence; among them the prime minister Eleftherios Venizelos with his son, eventually also prime minister, Sofoklis Venizelos (1894 – 1964).

>The year-long renovation of the historic building has resurfaced hidden secrets of the political activities of Nikolaos Askoutsis. These are now in display alongside other family relics and documents in dedicated and prominent spots for the benefit of the guests.

>The renovation of the Residence involved all necessary bioclimatic architectural interventions as well as installation of high-end technological features. At the same time, we have taken care to highlight all the traditional architectural elements of the building that reminisce its long history.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

The light-filled idyllic setting for preparing indulgent breakfast-in-bed creations, is perfect to tempt those needing an excuse to be roused from their restful slumber. The first bedroom of the Residence is located on the ground floor, featuring one Queen Size bed (1,60x2,00). Additionally, the first bathroom sits on this floor, featuring a shower with glass cabin.

*Ground floor is suitable for people with special needs and it’s wheelchair accessible, as it offers direct access from the parking area to the pool terrace, living room, kitchen, bedroom and also features a 10 m2 bathroom friendly designed for guests with restricted mobility.

The further three bedrooms are located on the first floor, the former featuring one Queen size bed (1,60x2,00), the second featuring two single beds (0,80x2,00) which are set up to form a Queen size bed. The last bedroom boasts two single beds (0,90x2,00), which could be joined to a King size bed, if wished. In addition, all of the bedrooms of the first floor boast en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers.

The bedrooms are effortlessly and elegantly furnished promising a blissful night's sleep after the day's busy adventures. What’s more, our guests will find a shared bathroom on the first floor, featuring shower cabin, for those who wish to relax after a long day of exploration.

The Residence can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests in real beds. Two more guests can be accommodated in the sofa bed of the first floor’s living room. In addition, our guests will benefit from the direct access from the living room to a veranda with comfy sittings on the first floor.

Outside

Muazzo Historic Residence lies amidst at a blooming two acre garden, with a 50m2 private swimming pool (5x10 and 1,20 metres deep). The pool terrace is equipped with sun beds and comfy sitting areas with natural shade from the trees, so you can relax all day long enjoying the Cretan sun, drinks or anything else you may wish!
BBQ facilities (gas) are also available, offering a stylish al fresco space for enjoying an evening tipple in the lovely outdoor dining area.

*An extra shared bathroom (WC & shower) is also available outdoors.

The property is well-equipped with all the mod cons; Fridge with freezer, Electric stove with oven, Espresso machine (capsules) & Filter coffee machine, Microwave, Food Processor (Multi), Kettle, Sandwich Maker, Toaster, Juice Maker, Dishwasher, Washing Machine & Tumble Dryer, Iron & Board, Hair dryer, First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, Smoke Detector, kitchenette on the 1st floor (includes Microwave, Filter coffee, Fridge with freezer, Sink) & fully equipped kitchen on the ground floor. Fitness equipment (dumbbells and abs machine) available upon request.
