No.3 The Old Convent.

No.3 & No.4 are first floor apartments. No.3 is all on one level.
No.1 & 2 The Old Convent are ground floor apartments. All our apartments have been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard but keeping some of the character and adding modern central heating, insulation and double glazing!
The Old Convent is situated in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the southern tip of Loch Ness, which is virtually the geographical center of the Highlands. A perfect base for exploring the spectacular scenery and amenities that the area has to offer.
We, Felicity & Chris are local and live in what was the priests quarters when the building was originally a church and are able to suggest many wonderful day trips combining superb scenic drives and walks, with castles, brochs and ruins that you probably won't find in any guide book.
Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the center of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants. You can take a boat trip up Loch Ness or simply chill on the canal side watching the boats negotiate the locks!

The Old Convent was originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness.

We are close to main road with the convent woods to rear giving you privacy, and a fantastic view of golf course and Ben Tee to front.

If you wish to bring your dog please ask first. We accept most small/medium sized dogs but they are not allowed in the bedroom or on the furniture. We do have spare dog towels if needed.

The property is ready for guests arrival from 4pm. We ask that guests leave by 10am on day of departure as we need time to clean for next guests.
If an apartment is already booked for your preferred dates please ask as there are four apartments No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4

Lovely apartment

It was a lovely apartment obviously renovated with care and in an interesting building. Great location to visit Loch Ness and the wider area. The hosts were very informative and welcoming.

Perfect place to stay

Many thanks to Felicity and Chris for your very friendly welcome. The appartment was pefect in every way. Spotlessly clean, very well equiped, warm and comfortable. Fort Augustus was a perfect base for us for touring and walking. Great local pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. I highly recommend the Old Convent for the perfect getaway.

Cosy home in a gorgeuos landscape

We had a wonderful time in tho old convent. Everything was well prepared, comfortable and furnished in the best of taste. Thank you Felicity and Chris for your kind hospitality and helpful tips. Fort Augustus

Felicity and Chris were wonderful hosts. They great their guests upon arrival and take them around the flat. They provide a wonderful book and map that tell you things to do and places to visit(things that aren't found online). They have lovingly restored the Convent. They strive to make things better for those visiting their area. We loved it. Our hosts were great, we would definitely stay again!

Great location

Wonderful flat. Close to town. Only complaint was the bed. I found the bed very uncomfortable although my husband disagreed. The kitchen was great with a washing machine and a dishwasher. The bathtub was a pleasure and appreciated. There are restaurants, a butcher and a small grocery store in the town of Fort Augustus. Location was superb- able to visit Glencoe, the Isle of Skye, the distillery of Glenmorangie and of course Loch Ness is superb. Oban is nearby and very pretty.

Absolutely fantastic property! Perfect for what we wanted and could easily suit anyone wanting a "base" for seeing the local area or anyone wanting a place to spend the majority of the time in. Modern furnishings, yet the apartment still retains a traditional feel matching the exterior of the property. And both spacious and cozy at the same time. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Lovely stay

Great place in great location. Lovely, friendly hosts who had lots of helpful advice about the area and restaurants. Online it did say the apartment had a fire place, however this was not a working fireplace. Place was still lovely to stay in and very clean with well equipped kitchen. Thank you for a fantastic few days in Fort Augustus!

Wonderful experience

Great location to see all the sites. Chris and Felicity were fantastic hosts with unbelievable local information for touring. Our apartment 3 was spacious clean and had all the necessities for a fantastic experience. So far it has been the highlight of our highlands trip and would highly recommend this spot.

Fantastic location

On arrival Felicity showed us around and gave us some good tips for places to visit. The apartment was great and only a 5/10 minute walk to the centre of Fort Augustus. It was warm and comfortable and everything at hand you may need. A fantastic place with friendly people, we will definitely be back.

Perfect place to stay!

The old convent is in all respects a perfect place to stay. The owners (Chris and Felicity) are very kind en helpful. Our appartment (no. 3) was spacious, very clean and fully equipped. Fort Augustus is an ideal starting point for all kinds of activities in the neighborhood (such as Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, National Park, Inverness, Plockton etc.).

wir haben 1 Woche im Juli 2018 im App. Nr. 3 verbracht. Wir wurden liebevoll empfangen u. Chris hat uns viele wertvolle Tipps für Unternehmungen gegeben. Besonders spannend! war die Fahrt mit der Glenelg-Fähre nach Skye. Die Wohnung ist super gemütlich eingerichtet u. mit allem was man benötigt ausge- stattet. Mit der Renovierung des Convents ist den Gastgebern eine gelungene Mischung aus alt u. neu gelungen. Sehr zu empfehlen..

Outstanding!

We've not long returned home after spending 12 nights at The Old Convent and quite honestly wish we could go back tomorrow! We stayed in No 3, a spacious first floor apartment with stunning views from every room. We both spent many an hour sitting by the bedroom window watching the bunnies on the lawn! The accomodation was spotlessly clean and has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It is clear that Felicity and Chris have poured so much of themselves into the renovations. They love the building and it shows! We were lucky to be able to have a nose around the other two finished apartments. All very different but equally beautiful, quirky and sympathetically renovated. We can't wait to see No 2 when it's finished! Thank you both so much for your hospitality! Perfect hosts! Tracey & Richard

A home away from home but near the shores of beautiful Loch Ness

A roomy, comfortable and well appointed apartment at Fort Augustus near the shores of Loch Ness. Cruising on the Loch, beautiful walks, activities in town and many restaurants in town if you choose to eat out (we decided to eat in for most of our meals in the spacious kitchen/dining room). Also you could not ask for friendlier and more helpful hosts. A wonderful holiday stay!

No. 3 was perfect

We stayed here with our 18yo nephew for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Apartment has been nicely updated. The bathroom was especially nice and spacious. My husband is picky when it comes to bathrooms, and this one did not disappoint! Bedroom is spacious too. We used the oven and did several loads of laundry, which was nice to have available. Felicity and Chris were wonderful hosts. Felicity has a nice book of suggested activities and drives. We took her advice to go to the Old Man of Storr and were happy with that decision. We also spent a day going to Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefield and Clara Cairns. Fort Augustus is a great base. The house is about 10 min walk to down town. Grocery store is bustling with energy, a perfect pit stop for supplies before heading out to explore the highlands. There's a gas station, gift shop and post office wrapped into to the grocery store as well. Tourist office around the corner has information and sells stamps too. Lots of fish and chips shops to choose from! We highly recommend this rental.

Home from home

Had a truly wonderful stay, Chris and Felicity were very welcoming to their lovely home. They had lots of local knowledge and advice about how to make the most out of our (too) short stay. I would absolutely recommend this property for visiting the Highlands or just a relaxing break. Thank you Chris and Felicity and we look forward to visiting again, hopefully for a bit longer. An excellent base

No 3 The Old Convent was an excellent choice of accommodation. A very warm welcome and a spotlessly clean and very comfortable apartment. The apartment was extremely well equipped and the owners were a mine of information on things to see and do in the area. It was an short walk into Fort Augustus where there was a shop open until 8.00pm and a variety of eating places.

Comfort, hospitality and location perfect.

We had a wonderful few days in this beautiful apartment in Fort Augustus. Felicity and Chris are so welcoming and everything you need is there. Saw a deer in the grounds one morning. Lots to see around the area.

We, Chris & Felicity are local and have lived in The Old Convent since 1994. We managed to buy this beautiful old building in 2009 and have been lovingly renovating it to a (we hope) very high standard keeping a lot of the original features but adding some modern and quirky touches.

The Old Convent is in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the southern tip of Loch Ness and is geographically the centre of the Highlands. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery and an abundance of wildlife plus the odd castle or two! Fort Augustus has all the amenities you may need.
