Lovely apartment close to sea!The spaceOur family owned property of 600 m2 is situated in a lovely and peaceful village Pomena on the island of Mljet which is the eighth largest and greenest Croatian island. It is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, dry summers and mild winters and is one of the sunniest Adriatic islands. House is situated just 50 m from the sea and 300m from lakes.Our apartment provides bedroom with double and single bed, balcony and equipped kitchenette. Kitchenette features stove top, fridge, microwave, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Bathroom has shower.Thanks for considering staying with us! Mljet is the southernmost and easternmost of the larger Adriatic Islands of Dalmatia. It is the greenest Island with Mediterranean vegetation, a clear and clean sea, and a gentle sandy shoreline. National Park spreads on the western side of the Island (for over 54km2) and offers shady walking or cycling tracks, ancient ruins, and saltwater lakes. Entrances to NP Mljet is in Polače and Pomena.The main places are Pomena, Polače, and Sobra and in those places, you may find supermarkets, ATMs, restaurants, travel agencies, souvenir shops, etc...Island is regularly connected with Dubrovnik with a ferry from Dubrovnik or Korčula as well as a car ferry connection with Pelješac Peninsula on the Croatian mainland.Being located just over 15 minutes walk to Malo Jezero (Small Lake) of Mljet National Park, the village is the main entry point to the Park. Nowadays it has its hotel, a couple of restaurants and coffee bars, grocery and souvenir shops, agencies etc… As a bay, is a very safe place for anchorage, being sheltered by a tiny island of Pomestak, which acts as a local naturist beach too.Pomena is also a port where one will arrive if you take a day trip to Mljet by fast ferry from Korcula, Hvar, Split, Brac, or Dubrovnik.

Admirable and clean accommodation!

Great appartment to stay in Pomena right next to Mljet National Park and the center of the village. Beautiful island that we loved. Inka our host was great and very helpful. She showed us the nice places to hike. Juste be aware that there is a lot of stairs to get to the appartment which is ok but not the easiest to carry to luggage to the top. Apart from that i recommend this place.

Good value basic accommodation in Pomena. Host was very nice and let us keep bags there after check out. Very handy to the beautiful Mljet national park.

High-end vacation!

Die Wohnung hat eine sehr gute Lage, direkt am Eingang zum Nationalpark und im Ortszentrum. Wir haben Slavica erst am dritten Tag selbst gesehen, ihre Tochter hat uns nur den Schlüssel gegeben und gesagt , wann unser checkout ist. Es fehlte ein bisschen die persönliche Einweisung. Ein im Inserat angebotenes Frühstück wurde aus Zeitmangel abgelehnt. Die Selbstversorgung im Ort ist aber nicht so ganz einfach , weil es nur einen Mini Minimarkt gibt, der, wenn man Glück hat, eine sehr spartanische Selbstversorgung ermöglicht. Es gibt einige Restaurants, in denen man gut essen kann ( Restaurant Melody). Aber man ist inzwischen doch überrascht, dass die Gastronomiepreise teils über denen von Deutschland liegen . Insgesamt lohnt sich auf Grund der tollen Natur im Nationalpark aber der Aufenthalt auf jeden Fall.

A lovely place to stay whilst seeing the beauty of the Mljet National Park.

Very close to the entrance to the National Park. The hosts were really helpful with an early check in and provided information on where to go and approximate timings for walks.

The location, very nice accommodation and the hosts make this place great even for solo travelers.

The location at the entrance of the National Park Mljet makes a perfect starting point for everyone planning to explore the area, and the hosts were very nice and helpful in every way. I enjoyed the stay and would definitely come again.

An amazing stay with lovely hosts.

The family who run the property were so friendly and helpful. The meal we had was delicious - with freshly caught fish on the day, homegrown vegetables and after dinner home produced liqueur. A great location right by the entrance to the national park and the harbour. I would highly recommend a stay here. Plus they have goats that you are welcome to go visit!!

Comfortable and value for money.

Vi uppskattar personliga möten och ställen. Guest House Matana is run by a very nice and service minded family. The room had a comfy bed and AC. We had breakfast at there terrace. And appreciated staying next to the entrance of the National park.

Un paradis sur une île paradisiaque

Tout était parfait, maison simple mais généreuse. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour profiter de l'île et du parc naturel. L'entrée du parc est à côté, le port est juste à proximité. Les restaurants sont aussi proches mais je vous conseille de manger sur place le soir et ce sera le meilleur repas de vos vacances. Poissons pêchés par le propriétaire le matin, légumes du jardin , vous allez vous régaler ! Le petit déjeuner est également parfait et fait maison. Bravo a la famille pour l acceuil et d'avoir cree un lieu comme cela.

Great location and ok for 1 night

Location is perfect as it is next door to the park entrance. Host was friendly. For the money we paid (cheap) the room was pretty much as expected and it had a fridge to keep our wine cold.

Bon séjour à Pomena

L’accueil chaleureux et les conseils de Inka sur le parc National, avec un petit gâteau de bienvenue! La proximité directe avec l’entrée du parc à seulement quelques minutes à pieds. Petit plus également pour la réduction de 10% sur la note du restaurant voisin où l’on a très bien mangé.

Comfortable guesthouse in great location.

We appreciated the warm welcome and helpful attitude from our hosts. The room was clean and tidy, and the view excellent. We took the option to have breakfast at the guesthouse - which featured home produce and home-made bread. The guesthouse is a short walk from the Krilo ferry, and there is a principal entrance to the Park beside the guesthouse.
