We were absolutely delighted staying here

The cottage was tastefully decorated, warm and welcoming. The host was so helpful and genuinely interested if we enjoyed our stay. It felt like being at home and it was spotlessly clean. Couldn't have asked for more!

A home from home

Stayed for a short break while travelling from Cornwall back up to Scotland. Had a lovely stay. The cottage was absolutely spotless and the decor throughout was lovely. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need. The shower was very powerful and lovely touch to have shampoo/conditioner and soaps too. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in this area. We enjoyed a great trip to Beamish museum which is only 15mins drive.

We stayed for 2 nights during stop over back up to Scotland from holiday is Cornwall. We were absolutely delighted with the cottage. It was bigger than we expected and was absolutely spotless!Fantastic kitchen supplies - everything you need.Lovely decor throughout and everything was so clean.Great powerful shower and a lovely touch supplying shampoo and conditioner too along with soap in kitchen bathroom too.This was like a home from home and would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.We stayed here to enjoy a great day out at Beamish museum which was only 20 mins drive.Plenty of shops and facilities only a short drive (5mins).Thanks to Clare for being a great host.

A perfect location for a visiting the local attractions

We stayed for 3 nights, fri to sun, primarily to attend the Kynren, but we also visited Durham and The Beamish living museum

The cottage was excellent and the host so very helpful

The cottage was well equipped clean and had an excellent kitchen. The bathroom was clean and well appointed with an excellent shower over the bath. Te beds were comfortable and a good nights sleep was easily obtained

Beautiful cottage with everything you could need.

A very warm, cosy cottage, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Great food at the local pub. The host was so good at communicating and made us feel very welcome. She left us breakfast items. Very thoughtful. Would highly recommend staying here.

Cute cottage

The cottage is beautiful, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The host was brilliant in communicating with us. It has everything you could need for a break away. The host recommended the local pub for a meal and that was superb and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this property.

Property manager Clare very helpful & quickly resolved any issues. She went out of her way to ensure we had a good stay. Clean & comfortable home & we would stay here again. Only complaint - no toilet brush in bathroom - sorry I forgot to mention this before

High standard, immaculately clean comfortable cottage

Deceptively spacious, immaculately clean comfortable cottage in a great location. Quiet, with parking inform on the cottage. Easy access to any of the urban areas but having the peace of the open countryside. Everything you could possibly need has been thoughtfully provided. Excellent, friendly communication from the host and thoughtful extra touches. Great little pub at the end of the row which does excellent, reasonably priced food. Perfect house in great dog walking area

The cottage was immaculate and perfectly positioned with great parking and rural views from the back and front. Literally across the road was a great woodland walk with further access to Hedleyhope Fell with marked trails. About 9 doors down was a lovely little pub with excellent food (with takeaway possible). Easy access to Durham, Hamsterley Forest, Gibside etc. Don't be put off by the name of the village - the colliery and houses were demolished and it's now all woodland and meadows.

Much better than expected

This mid terrace house was immaculate and much larger than expected. Open views at front and rear. A house in a very interesting hamlet that was 100 years ago a thriving pit village .... but now one can only see open fields and woods. Good food at a pub a few doors down the road. We enjoyed Beamish and Durham which are less than 10 miles away. The house has a service road in front making parking easy. The play area across the road was suitable for teenage ball games as well as young children.

Amazing place

This cottage is just beautiful. Everything you need. Very home from home. Much bigger than I was expecting. Clare left us a lovely welcome pack. Cottage was immaculately clean and what ever Clare washes the towels and bedding in made them smell beautiful. It is situated in a small village which suited us as we like the peace, quiet and views. It is really well situated to access Durham, Newcastle Beamish and further. We only managed to eat at the pub once but the food was great and very good value for money. All in all we had the best stay at Colliery Cottage.

Beautiful cottage

A wonderful surprise on arrival. Beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated and furnished. Bathroom is nothing short of luxurious and the bath itself was one of the most comfortable I've ever had the pleasure of lying in. Great kitchen and really good to find both a washing machine and tumble dryer. So good was my experience at Colliery Cottage that I'm back there in a few weeks. Highly recommend to other travellers.

High Quality Property - all you could need

Immaculately clean, high quality, beautifully decorated cottage. Deceivingly spacious and thoughtfully provides everything you could need. It is in a great location - quiet, beautiful walks straight from the cottage, and easy access to the major towns/cities . The pub does great food which we collected and ate at the house - great value and beautifully cooked - we sort of wished we had gone for the smaller portions!! Very friendly area, the host was warm and friendly too and we had all the necessary information we could need. Llovley welcoming touches too. Highly recommend am already trying to rebook!!!
