French Country Cottages with heated swimming pool in a fantastic rural location

TWO, stone built 2 bedroom cottages (each sleeps 4 people plus optional cot or single bed) lovely lounge area, comfortably accommodates four adults. TV with freesat (English) channels, internet access. Kitchen/diner, fully equipped. Welcome food basket on arrival. Shower-room/toilet. Double bedroom and twin room (can be set up as a second double) all beautifully furnished, a real home from home feel. A great location for a relaxing break.

Maroux Vian

We had a wonderful weeks holiday at Maroux Vian. Paula and Andy were very welcoming and the perfect hosts, they really couldn’t have done more to make our stay special. The Gîte was clean, tidy, comfortable and a great base for the week. The rest of the facilities at Maroux Vian are superb - we particularly loved the pool and hot tub. The property is set within typically picturesque Brittany countryside and there are plenty of local places that are well worth a visit without having to venture too far afield. Particular highlights for us were Gorges du Carong and The Valley of Saints. The nearest town is Callac which is a couple of miles away. There you’ll find, amongst other things, Sarl Ty Coz, a lovely little bakery in the square, and a well stocked Intermarché. There are also a couple of electric car charging sites should you need it. The little lake on the outskirts of Callac is well worth a wander round and makes a great picnic spot. I’d recommend Maroux Vian wholeheartedly - we will return!

Wonderful property, fabulous location!

What an absolutely wonderful holiday we had at Maroux Vian. From the moment we pulled up at the property to be greeted by Andy and Paula, to the (sad) moment Paula waved us off as we departed, we were made to feel so welcome. We've stayed in some very nice holiday cottages over the years, but nothing to beat Maroux Vian. The charming gite (we stayed in 'Papillon') was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and extremely well-equipped. The welcome pack which greeted us upon our arrival was exactly that - very welcome - and the most generous and thoughtful example of its kind we've ever had. This set the tone for our stay. We only saw Andy briefly as he had to leave for the UK, but Paula made us feel truly at home. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was always there if needed but never obtrusive. Our daughters, aged 14 and 12, had a fantastic time in and around the fabulous pool, and enjoyed very much the brilliant hot-tub. The games area is wonderful, several games of badminton were enjoyed, and we had a lovely walk through the woodland which belongs to the property. Lots of lovely days out, helped by expert advice from Paula, and equally lovely days in. And, thanks to Paula's excellent culinary skills and wonderful hospitality, I had a birthday I'll remember forever. (I recommend the paella!) In summary, we cannot praise highly enough the whole experience of holidaying at Maroux Vian. We are so grateful to our lovely hosts, and we truly hope to return again to this fabulous place in the not-too-distant future.

Sommerferien nach 2 Jahren COVID-Pause

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das knuffige Häuschen hat uns mit seinem Charme im Handumdrehen erobert. Die freundliche, zuvorkommende und hilfsbereite Art von Paula und Andy haben uns den Aufenthalt ebenfalls sehr erleichtert.

Super séjour au calme

Wir herzlich von Paula und Andy in ihrem Feriendomizil aufgenommen. Aufgrund der zentralen Lage bot sich eine Erkundung der gesamten Bretagne an. Vor Ort in Callac bekommt man alles was man sonst noch braucht. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die Möglichkeit bei Paula ein Dinner zu bestellen. Wir haben es genossen.

Comme si on revenait chez des amis de longue date

Avant notre arrivée, lors d'une longue conversation téléphonique, toutes nos questions ont été abordées. Nous avons donc pu réserver la tête tranquille. En fait, nous n'étions pas certain si nous pouvions considérer Maroux Vian comme notre point de chute pour découvrir la Bretange en motos. Mais il s'est avéré que la localisation du gîte était parfaite pour nos randonnées. La gîte est aménagé avec goût et s'il manquait qch dans la cuisine, il ne fallait que demander. La piscine et le jacuzzi sont très bien entretenus et nous en avons profité (presque) tous les soirs. Pas besoin de se faire des soucis pour la sécurité de nos motos car Maroux Vian est situé trèèèèèèès au calme. Pas de trafic (sauf nous ;-) Nous avons également profité d'un dîner préparé par notre hôte, au bord de la piscine. Nous recommandons le "creamy chicken", un délice. Notre semaine à Maroux Vian était riche en émotions (pour nous et pour nos hôtes). Nous n'oublierons certainement pas notre séjour - qui pour nous - était juste parfait. Nous recommandons ce gîte les yeux fermés pour les personnes qui aiment la nature, le calme et qui cherchent un lieu un peu à l'écart des villes. Par contre, un moyen de déplacement, voiture, moto, vélo est indispensable. Un grand merci encore une fois à Paula et à Andy pour nous avoir accueilli comme des amis de longue date.

A wonderful week in Brittany

We spent a wonderful week in Brittany and thoroughly loved our holiday there. Paula and Andy were incredibly thoughtful in making our stay memorable and one we would want to repeat. They made numerous suggestions for things to do that would appeal to our two young boys. We were made to feel really welcome the whole time. The boys loved the pool and practically had gills by the end of the week due to the amount of time spent in the water. When not in the pool another lovely surprise was the outdoor games provided that amused the boys for hours. We have discovered that we all love to play badminton and boules!! Another highlight of the week was the meal that Paula cooked. We opted for a Paella and it was a feast for the whole family. The location is in the countryside and is really quiet which was great. It is pretty easy to get around to wherever you want to go and I was pleasantly surprised by how little traffic there was in general. A lovely holiday.

Mooi vakantiehuisje op rustige plek

De eigenaren zijn aardig en behulpzaam. Het terrein met de huisjes is mooi en goed verzorgd. Het verwarmde wembad en de jacuzzi zijn heerlijk en je hoeft het maar met één ander huisje te delen. Huisje is leuk ingericht en netjes en prettig. Het dorpje Callac met supermarkt is vlakbij en daar is ook een heerlijk restaurantje.

Spotlessly clean, everything you need. Wonderful location, excellent hosts (Paul’s and Andy). Fully equipped cottages, fantastic pool and hot tub, bikes, badminton, football, swing ball etc, 45mins from the coast. We will be back. Absolutely faultless.

Lovely stay!

We had a great holiday at Maroux Vian. The setting is just beautiful and a real country escape. Paula’s knowledge of the local area really helped make our holiday. Both Paula and Andy are lovely hosts - it was my partners birthday and Paula made a wonderful cake and organised a fabulous party tea! I would highly recommend. Thank you to Paula and Andy for such a lovely week!

De huisjes zijn netjes aangekleed met oog voor detail. Alles is zeer proper en kindvriendelijk. De gastvrouw is vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam. Ze geeft je tips voor uitstapjes en staat steeds klaar om je te helpen. Het huisje ligt in het midden van de velden met enkel natuur en rust om je heen. Het zwembad is gewoon zalig.

Perfect holiday.

What an incredible holiday we had with our boys aged 4 and 5! Paula and Andy really went that extra mile to make it a holiday to never forget (for all the right reasons!). They took so much joy in our boys who adored them very quickly and were keen to show them their newfound swimming skills! We had an amazing evening around the firepit after a wonderful shared BBQ, the stars really clear. The toys, lawns, pool and hot tub were beautifully maintained and entertained everyone. The accommodation was beautifully decorated, the bedding and towels were better than hotel standard and the kitchen was really well equipped. We had a very generous welcome hamper on arrival. Our best day was spent kayaking and longboarding on Lake Guerledan and we had some lovely visits to stunning beaches recommended by Paula on the Granite Coast. We had lovely days in Callac running the 10km beautiful offroad three river circuit and cycling around the stunning lake. We loved Callac town square, with markets, Car boot sale and amazing Patisserie! Paula and Graham have also sussed out the best buys with wine and we left with our car bursting with bottles! Thankyou we are all refreshed and very happy!

Our Best Gite Experience in Brittany Yet!!

Paula and Andy are the most amazing hosts, from the hamper on arrival through to the welcome drinks night, we were made to feel like we were at home from day 1. Paula and Andy struck the perfect balance of being helpful and handy for any questions etc, but never felt that they were intruding. The Gites and location are our favorite so far after 8 years of visiting Brittany. The Pool and Hot Tub and area around the pool are great for swimming and sunbathing during the day and unwinding with a drink and a book on an evening. We used the bikes to ride into Callac for our Crossiants in the morning and then found the road network handy enough to be in the Granite Coast in 40 mins one day and then Quimper in the south the next - so for us an ideal location. My youngest son loved the badminton, swing ball and use of the bikes (at no extra cost) which has not always been our experience!! On our last night Andy lit us a fire pit, whilst we had a great time listening to music with a bottle of the local brew, overlooking the pool and fields beyond. Awesome holiday with wonderful hosts!

Had an amazing two weeks at Maroux Vian. The property is everything you hope your holiday cottage will be and even with comfortable beds ! The welcome basket is very generous and thoughtful .The pool is spotless and our kids had hours and hours of fun in it. There is so much space and things for the kids to do without even leaving however the location is great with several good days out and access to plenty of gorgeous coastline for sandcastles and surfing. There is also a few lakes nearby that has various water sports and a river beach. What makes the holiday special though is the fantastic hosts who go out of their way to ensure everyone is having the best time, big thank you Paula and Andy we will definitely be back !

Great little property with Pool and Hot Tun

Very welcoming owners who live in the larger property by the pool. They left us a superb welcome pack and were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The Pool and Hot Tub is shared with the other property and can be used up to 8pm as our friends had the other property this was idea as we could share the tables and BBQ. The property was very clean and had everything needed. Its in a very quiet area so no noise day or night , but under 10 minutes to the large supermarket and small town.

Fantastic holiday

Andy and Paula are an incredibly warm and welcoming couple who have fabulous personalities and such an attention to detail. The gite is appointed to the highest and decorated in the theme of butterflies depicted in the name of the gite. The welcome basket is such a lovely thought to receive including everything you need until you visit an array of local supermarkets, patisseries, etc. We also enjoyed several of Paula's home cooked meals that are advertised in the welcome book. Paula offers an wide variety of meals including wine at a very good price which was such a wonderful idea. Andy keeps the pool, hot tub, play areas, etc to a high standard of cleanliness and safety. Every thought has been given to ensure both families and other groups of guests are catered for this most wonderful idyllic setting. We wait to book again and enjoy the facilities and hospitality offered as well as exploring the endless places of interest in the area.

A french experience to be remembered!

A wonderful, tranquil setting, within easy reach of all amenities and attractions. Accommodation was stunning and very high quality, with optional evening meals that were first class at reasonable prices. Hosts couldn't have done more to make our stay the most welcoming and comfortable experience. Truly a French feel, but with all the comforts and attention to detail expected in the UK. We will be returning for another break as soon as work allows!

We absolutely adore France especially Britanny region in particular.Our plan was to find a get away from it all location that had fantastic country views and had a real home from home appeal but not too rural that we felt too isolated.We love 'the French way' of life, the fine food, wine and totally stress free.We now spend time doing the things we really enjoy doing like entertaining people and having a good time, walking, cycling, swimming, and travelling. In particular, Paula enjoys being creative; painting and making things like cakes for all occassions and loves catering, entertaining and cooking proper home-made dishes with fresh local ingredients. Andy enjoys outdoor interests; gardening, air rifle target shooting, archery, fishing, and photography.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Having been across the channel to France many times both for work and pleasure, we found this area of France particularly charming. We love the beautiful rolling countryside and the quaint little villages with beautiful stone built churches and traditional french architecture. We have had holidays both in the North and South of France, though we are more familiar with the North and wanted to have a place in the countryside but still be close to the sea. We feel we have the best of both worlds here, the beaches are glorious and close by.

Set against a backdrop of beautiful woodland and rolling meadows surrounding the property, South facing garden and terrace, you can enjoy the beautiful views whilst relaxing with friends and family in the heated swimming pool and hot-tub spa. We have 10 acres of private woodland which children will love to explore. Wildlife is in abundance here with deer grazing daily close by and many other visitors including foxes, rabbits and badgers. The property is located in the heart of the countryside but just 1 mile from the bustling market town and 40 minutes from the glorious Pink Granite coast. With the pretty seaside town of Locquirec and miles of sandy beaches.Fantastic!!
