Valentinos House & Pool, Costa Maresme – 20 mins from Barcelona

Step back in time in this beautifully restored historic house in the heart of Vilassar de Dalt, a charming Maresme village just 20 km from Barcelona.

Dating back to the 17th century, the house has a fascinating history and retains many of its original features, including old wooden ceiling beams and uneven walls. It has been carefully restored to combine its traditional character with modern comforts, including a private swimming pool — a rare feature for a historic village house.

Set directly on the village’s main square, the house gives you the chance to experience everyday Catalan village life while enjoying your own private space. A café/tapas bar is just outside.

Relax by the pool, explore the village and surrounding countryside, or head down to the nearby coast or into Barcelona.

Layout & Sleeping Arrangements

Ground Floor: Large bedroom with two double beds (180 × 200 cm and 160 × 200 cm) and a sofa bed (160 × 200 cm). Two ceiling fans are provided. The bedroom is reached by steps leading down from the entrance hall.

First Floor: Open-plan living area and kitchen overlooking the pool, with air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The second bedroom is accessed through the living area via a short outside passage and has a ceiling fan.

Laundry & Bathroom: Located between the ground and first floors, with access to the pool area.

Outdoor Space & Pool

The pool area has a table, chairs and BBQ, providing a peaceful space for relaxing and dining outdoors.

The pool is unheated.

Historic Character

The upstairs bedroom has been preserved in its original state.

Inside, you’ll mainly hear birds singing, with the occasional toll of the nearby 16th-century church bell.

As with any historic property, some dust may occasionally be present, which may be relevant for guests with allergies.

Nature & Insects

The property has outdoor plants and greenery, so ants, mosquitoes, bees and other insects may occasionally be present, particularly during the warmer months. Insect spray is provided.

Leaves and other natural debris may occasionally fall into the pool despite regular cleaning.

The Village & Neighbourhood

Vilassar de Dalt is a traditional village with narrow streets, historic buildings, cafés, shops and restaurants.

Everyday amenities are within walking distance, including shops, bakeries and a pharmacy. The local police station and medical centre are also located on the main square.

During the summer months, the village comes alive with local festivals and celebrations, with occasional events and live music taking place in the main square. Although the house is private and secluded, you may occasionally hear music or other sounds from village celebrations. Catalan people love to celebrate, and these events are part of the local atmosphere!

If you are not coming by car, we provide a shopping trolley to make it easier to bring your groceries home.

Parking & Transport

Dropping off luggage: You can stop in the village square to unload your bags. You may find an available space here, but spaces are limited and it is a paid zone during the day.

Free parking: There is a free parking area at Can Banús, approximately a 6-minute walk away. Please refer to the map in the photos section.

If you cannot find a space there, you can look for street parking nearby. As this is an old village with narrow streets, availability can vary depending on the time and day.

Public transport: A direct bus into Barcelona city centre (Moventis 805) is approximately a 5-minute walk away, with a journey time of around 30–40 minutes.

The Vilassar de Mar coast and train station can also be reached by bus using the Moventis 803.

Self-Catering

The property is self-catering, with basic supplies provided. Additional items can be purchased locally.

Important to Know

Maximum occupancy: Maximum 6 guests. Only registered guests are permitted.

Age limit: No groups under 25.

Accessibility: The property has several levels and steps and is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Children: There are no safety railings around the outdoor areas, so children must be supervised at all times.

Pets: Pets are not permitted.

Smoking & vaping: Not permitted inside the house.

Drugs: Illegal drugs, including cannabis, are prohibited anywhere on the property, indoors or outdoors.
