Shops and restaurants are nearby, but the walk is about 15 minutes. The kitchen appliances are old and need replacing. Pots and pans were plentiful, but cutlery and glasses were shared with upstairs unit. The beach chairs provided and the outdoor furniture was great. Thank you. The layout of the apartment and the furniture provided excellent. Wifi and TV great. No need for an alarm, the rooster next door will wake you to see the sunrise.

2nd great stay at heywoods apartments

The property is just a 5 minute walk to Heywoods beach, and a few more to 'downtown' speigstown. Very convenient to beaches, shopping /grocery stores and restaurants. Very safe, lovely people.

Comfortable and clean

We have stayed at this property multiple times. It is close to the beach. The only complaint is the neighbour’s barking dog.

Speightown

The property is just a short walk from Heywoods beach and a lovely bar called the Cabose which serves fantastic cutters, the property is very comfortable but would benefit from having aircon throughout, also a little tired in places a lick of paint would sort that out. Over all though a good price and friendly locals.

Very pleasant apartment, has everything you need.

The apartment is about 15 minutes gentle walk into Speightstown. Heywoods beach which was my favourite and beautiful beach was also a gentle 15 minutes walk. So if you don’t hire a car be prepared to walk. Catching the local buses is easy but again be prepared for an experience. The apartment was clean and had most things you need. The apartment is situated in a quiet residential area and we felt quite safe. We enjoyed our stay.

Great value house

Overall we were happy with our stay. Communication with the owner Paul and the house manager Gabriel was excellent. All questions, problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Is the house in need of a bit of an update? Yes. But this is reflected in the cost to rent which is truly good value. Living room is ample and comfortable and wifi and tv excellent. Would we stay here again? Absolutely! I think that's the overall test of any property. manager Gabriel wad excellent

Property was dirty, poorly equipped and the website photos were not actually of this apartment. Paid for a stay of over 5 weeks, lasted one night, would rather lose the money than stay here

Fantastic location and setup

We had a wonder time, as we did when we stayed here last time. I was delighted to see that the host had upgraded the mattresses as I had suggested due to my daughter's cronic pain. Bathrooms were clean and functional, as was the kitchen. We ate in alot which saved $, and was possible because the kitche had all the equipment needed. And if there is something you need, just call Gabriel. He is terrific. We recommend this VRBO highly. I shoul also mentioned that a 10 minute walk taves you to a fablos beach (Heywoods beach) and town groceries,, restaurants and banks.

Great value and location

The location was perfect for our family. Beds were comfortable. It would do well to go through the cupboards to make sure there is enough utensils etc. the place holds 6 people, but there were only forks for 3. It could also use a bit of decorating.. We found it dark, with no real view of any kind, but we were only there in the evenings, so really didn’t matter. We had our morning coffee out front on the small patio, and enjoyed it because, well, you are in Barbados. We loved the local feel of the neighbourhood. We would definitely stay there again, given the location and price. Over all, it was great, and Paul was very accommodating to our specific requests..ie bbq.

Very basic, not very comfortable

The pros: the apartment was easy to find. Check in was easy. The owner is responsive.The cons: The air conditioning is rationed and limited to a single common room. It is on a motion censor that does a terrible job of detecting people. It cut out on us several times even though several of us were sitting right there in front of it. The bedrooms rely on floor fans but if you're a couple, closing your door is very uncomfortable because the heat and humidity will collect. Upon arrival, it was obvious the unit had not been prepped for visitors. The floors and walls were wet because the unit had been closed up. The beds were made & towels provided but the towels in the master were dirty. The towels in the master closet smelled heavily of body oder. I did reach out to the property owner about this but i was told their housekeeper provided clean items already.The shower remained cold. No one in my party had a hot shower. My youngest refused to shower at the unit after her second cold shower so we sent her to her uncles around the corner from where we stayed. Final thoughts: we stayed for 5 days, paid nearly 1000 and couldnt use the garden area (cramped & not suitable for parties of my size), take a hot shower or even have consistent air conditioning. We enjoyed our stay in Barbados because we spent so much of our time visiting family.If you have no family in the area and no means to travel the island on your own, seriously reconsider your options.

Hi Christopher, very sorry that you didn't have as a great experience like most of our guests. It was unfortunate about the issue we had with our solar water heating system. But that has been resolved now. Regards to the towels, the cleaner is aware of your comments and we are looking into better ways to keep them fresh for up coming guests. Majority of our guests have been happy staying at our apartments and we welcome any feedback that will help us improve.

Worn and tired

We were disappointed. The property had not been aired prior to our arrival even though the agents knew of our arrival time, therefore the apartment was musty & smelly. Had to clean before we settled in for the night after a long flight and journey to the apartment.The pictures posted are old, from when it was first listed and new. Needs work and a thorough deep clean as the sofas are dire. I suggest an investment in a steam cleaner would suffice. Listed...., a garden but not one you can use to relax in, so if your looking to chill in a garden with a good read, keep looking. This is not the place for you. No emergency contacts available in the apartment a must, doctors;dentist taxi. The agent needs to give more detail on the use of the apartment and how to get to the highway for those not driving, as there is a short cut. Plastic covering on beds in hot climates is not a good idea as, is informing your guests to restrict electricity use,you pay to stay in accommodation /hotels and the cost should reflect any usage. On plus note the showers were very powerful..though curtains need changing. The house keeper needs to be sacked a not doing a great job,

Great place to stay

had a great 2 weeks stay here with my family, great location, walkable to the beach and town. Neighbours very friendly. Accommodation worked out well and plenty of room. Wifi and TV was great to keep the kids entertained and within easy drive to bars and restaurants and the great beaches and attractions. Would definitely stay here again. Would recommend a cat if you want to see the island for yourself

Basic, but overall pleasant stay

Our stay at the property was overall pleasant. The property manager was responsive and the check in and check out process went well. The house was as described, there was plenty of room as we were just the three of us (including a 4-year-old) and this can host six people. The two bathrooms worked well and the showers are lovely, very spacious. The house could be massively improved by changing some of the furniture (some stuff was very old), by replacing some of the tools left at guests' disposal (a new, clean broom would be good, and better cutlery), and making the overall experience feel a little less basic. I must say the matresses, and some of the beds, would certainly benefit from replacing. The house also needs a general tidy up. There's some junk left here and there, especially inside drawers which should be removed. Dishwashing liquid and a sponge were usefully provided, but I would suggest to provide cleaning products for the house too, which I would normally expect to find rather than buy myself if I'm staying just for a week. The house has a few British type sockets as well as USB ports, which are extremily useful for those travelling from the UK like us, and we loved them.

Love spacious apar, great price

My adult daughter and I stayed at this great find for 6 nights. We loved it so much we are returning on the 15th. The apartment is big, we each had our own bedroom and bathroom with one bedroom extra for luggage etc. Gabrielle was great, showed us everything we needed to know. Very safe area. Fairly long walk to beach but I need the exercise (so it would take much less time if you are in better shape or have a car). Town is nice, good options for Dining out and we also bought groceries and made breakfast, lunch and dinner in the apartment on various days. CA not recommend highly enough.

Close to shopping, beach and bus terminal

We stayed in the ground floor apartment for 12 days while waiting for our other long term rental in Muilins. This place is convenient in terms of location if you don't like renting cars. The apartment had lots of room and modern shower However it could use some care and maintenance in terms of functionality and comfort especially some of us older folks who want a more comfy place to lie down. I would definitely recommend due to its location and good size for big families

Barbados holiday

We enjoyed our stay in Speightown. The apartment was in a good location but we took a taxi to the beach as it was too hot to walk especially on the way back. Their was an excellent taxi driver Dwight who would pick you up from the airport he lived in the house opposite. Gabriel met us and was around if we needed him. The Furnishings were good but little things could be improved their were no plugs in any sink or wash basin. Gabriel did try to provide some but they did not fit. Which may explain why some of the crockery was tacky to the touch. All the kitchen cupboards were grubby . There was a broken tap in the bathroom which Gabriel did glue back! The bathrooms were grubby as well . But the main areas were clean . One of the kitchen cupboard door were falling off and one had no handle.It was a shame about these things for a small amount of money it could all be fixed giving a much nicer impression. There was a phone left for us to call Gabriel if needed which was a very nice touch. Would we go back, yes, but our expectations would be lower.

Nice quiet property conveniently located

Property was clean, convenient and very close to the beach. Paul Holder was very easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. Just note that the neighborhood is full of chickens and roosters that start crowing around 3-4 in the morning so if you’re not used to it like me, it will wake you up. Also, I was disappointed I couldn’t get WiFi in the bedroom and the ac is only out in the common area although the bedrooms do have fans. I would stay here again though. It was nice to experience the proximity to Speightstoqn.

Beautiful Barbados!

We had a wonderful time in the Barbados in February! Speightstown is a beautiful quiet place, we always felt safe and welcome. This apartment was great, had everything we needed. It was clean, comfortable, lots of room & we always had hot water. It's about a 5 minute walk to Almond Beach which is beautiful. About a 10 minute walk to the nearest restaurant, it's in a nice neighbourhood and we always felt safe going out. The supermarket was about a 15 min walk and they'll call a cab for you, if you have too many groceries to carry, so no need to rent a car. We used Roger from Doc's Taxi Service for all our taxi/tour needs -- very friendly & reliable, knows the island very well. We will definitely be back to the Barbados in the near furture.

Great Stay

Had a wonderful time in Heywoods with great weather all week and great accommodation. Local access to the beach was great and we were welcomed by Jan & Gabriel at the airport. Definitely a must visit again destination.
