The location of this rental is awesome. You're only a block or a block and a half from the Town center where all the shops and restaurants are. The rental itself was way bigger on the inside than I was expecting and perfect for my wife and four kids for the week. The property owner stopped by to do yard work and was extremely friendly and kind to our kids. He even came back later while we were out and left gifts for the kids on the porch. We will definitely try to stay here again in the future.

This cottage has a convenient location to everything happening 2 blocks away in the quaint downtown, the dock, and all the recreational activities This street is one that runs from the water south to the end of the gated community. The cottage is charming with original painted walls and floors (I think) and updated baths and kitchen. The a/c worked great (it was a hot/humid week). The 2 bathrooms are compact but with great, roomy showers. I believe it is hot-water on demand because there was no waiting for hot water each morning. A small downside is the single parking spot. However, 4 blocks up the road is convenient overflow parking. The owner is extremely responsive and any help needed is nearby. Upstairs above the porch is a roomy covered porch. It did get some use; just not as much it if was on the first floor. The couch was great for naps after pickleball or 5K runs. The stairs are steep and narrow but has handrails on both sides. There is a small backyard but as you see, we made it work (I think this was the Bible quiz, or was it the spelling bee? Lakeside is a one-of-a-kind gem! Just walk out the door, and a myriad of activities and entertainment await. We were very pleased with our cottage for our annual family reunion - we were spread out all over LKSD in 6 cottages. Thank you!

Mayfly Inn

This is one of the nicest houses we have stayed in at Lakeside. We loved that it had a front porch and upstairs enclosed sunroom. The location is perfect. You won’t be disappointed if you chose to stay here. We hope to stay here again someday!

Just as promised

House was just as described. Very clean. Perfect location. We cooked most of our meals and appreciated that the kitchen was well stocked. Mark is a great host and very responsive. Highly recommend.

Wonderful property!

Our stay at Mayfly Inn was great - the property was clean & exactly as shown and described 👍 The layout was perfect for our family (4 adults + 2 kids) and we absolutely loved the two porches! Central location makes it easy to get wherever you want and easy for the kids. The house was equipped with some basics which is not always the case at Lakeside (ie. soap, salt & pepper, hand/dish towels, toilet paper upon arrival). Mark the owner was always very responsive to any questions we had & a great host. We very much enjoyed our stay at Mayfly Inn & would highly recommend this property!

Mayfly Inn

My family has been going to Lakeside for generations. The Mayfly Inn was perfect for our family and in a great location. The owner was ver accommodating and even refilled the cottage with supplies! The beds were very comfortable which you don’t find a lot with most cottages and the kitchen was very nice. Overall, we had a wonderful time!

Well located and very clean — a lovely spot!

The house is close to the lake as well as activities. I am a bit of a neat freak, and I found it to be extremely clean and just as described. We hope to come back as many times as the hosts can have us!

Updated cottage in a great location

This cottage has been updated and was very functional for our family of four. We appreciated having a kitchen with a full-size sink and dishwasher because we cook most of our meals in the cottage during our Lakeside weeks. The layout of the cottage works well and the upstairs porch gives teenagers a place to get away from parents for awhile. The photos provided in the listing are very accurate. I give this cottage four stars overall because there are two things that would make a stay here much better. The first thing would be better mattresses. These aren't the worst we've slept on in Lakeside, but the downstairs queen bed in particular was pretty uncomfortable for two people because both people roll to the center of the bed. The second thing would be, this cottage needs screen doors. Without screen doors, we ended up opening the storm doors so as not to be closed off from the buzz of activity on the street and a lot of flies get in that way. Really good place to stay overall, and would be five stars with a few small improvements.

Lakeside Getaway

Perfect week. Weather sunny and 75 most days. So much to do with family and grandkids. And to top it off the Mayfly Inn was wonderful! Clean, comfortable, cottage ambiance. Spent so much time on thee upstairs screened in porch! All hours of the day and into the night reading…bug free! Every thing we needed. Loved our stay. God willing we will be back same time next year!

The house was wonderful! The screened in porch, the extra long dining table, spacious bedrooms and washer/dryer made for a relaxing, comfortable stay. Located so close to the boardwalk & shops was so convenient!

Cute cottage in the perfect location

This cottage was really cute and clean. The kitchen was well stocked along with a grill. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch. The upstairs porch was also really nice. It was close to all the activities. The owner was very nice and helpful. We would definitely rent again in the future.

Great location and typical Lakeside cottage

This house was perfect for our family of 8. It was small and compact, but a typical cottage-style. It was a great location for walking to the dock and shops, but a long-ish walk to the pool. The dining room was tight for 8, but adequate. It was great to have A/C in all the bedrooms, a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. There was a nice backyard and the upstairs porch. One shower leaked through to the living room ceiling, and the owner was very quick to respond.

Short walk to Lakeside pier

Loved our stay at the Mayfly inn this summer! I spent most of my mornings on the porch swing with my coffee freshly made from the large Keurig in the kitchen. There was also a standard coffee pot, but the owner had let me know they have a Keurig prior to our arrival, so we brought K-Cups. The kitchen needed a little more of a wipe down when we first arrived. I guess the tenants who stayed before us didn't hire a cleaning lady and decided to clean it themselves. Thankfully, we DID hire the cleaning lady that the owner suggested. She was quick to respond and easy to do business with. Knowing that my packing efforts didn't have to be followed by a cleaning session was a relief. The air conditioners in the windows kept the place nice and cool. Having two full bathrooms helped with our family of 5. Would definitely rent again!

Perfect location for our week at Lakeside

The Mayfly was a lovely property in an excellent location. It was only 2-3 blocks from the action, but far enough away to be quiet. The kitchen is lovely, the two porches are fantastic. My only tiny complaint is that one of the mattresses is pretty uncomfortable. But the rest of the Mayfly was so perfect that it’s pretty easy to overlook the mattress

Charming, updated cottage

Mayfly Inn has been nicely modernized while maintaining a traditional summer cottage feel. We had all the amenities we wanted in a cozy, clean, comfortable retreat. Location is perfect! Mark was a terrific, responsive host. We'll stay again if the opportunity presents itself!
