Great location - quiet and scenic. Very good value compared to other options. Description is accurate in the number of stairs, so not for the mobility-challenged. Communication with owner was quick and responsive, and he visited us several times onsite to check in. Kitchen is furnished with basics (including coffee maker!) and beds were fine. We appreciated staying at this "rustic cabin on the lake."

Thank you, Cathleen and Dean. You all were the ideal guests. You communicated promptly and clearly regarding your schedule and your needs. We always try to anticipate desires and respond quickly. Our caretaker made a quick trip to Chelan to buy a hair dryer needed by one of your guests. Now, we will have that available for future guests. Yes, in advance, we tell our guests to expect "a rustic Lake Chelan Cabin." That way, our guests are very pleasantly surprised by our quality year-round home. You took very good care of our property and left the house spotlessly clean. You are welcome back to our home at any time it is available. Stan.

Overall, we had a good stay. Location: amazing. The docks, a huge plus. However, there were several issues that couldn't be overlooked and were worth mentioning to future guests. Our issues began immediately at check-in: the owner arrived 30 minutes late, after we had been communicating with him about our ETA. Once he arrived, he stayed an additional 30 minutes and insisted on walking us through the property, which felt invasive and unnecessary after a long day of travel.The home's lack of cleanliness was extremely disappointing. We were charged for cleaning twice: once through Vrbo, and from the host. We understood the house was rustic, but we didn't expect it to be as filthy as it was. There were major cobwebs in every room that were impossible to ignore. Some of the bedding was stained and visibly dirty. We found hair in the shower from a previous guest. The overall lack of cleanliness created discomfort for everyone. The most frustrating part being that we were overcharged for cleaning, when it was VERY clear the property had not been cleaned prior to our arrival.One evening, the host showed up unannounced, requesting to enter, claiming he needed to retrieve something. On a separate night, we discovered him lurking outside the house wearing a headlamp, looking through one of the windows. This was deeply disturbing and made everyone extremely uncomfortable. This was a clear invasion of our privacy.

So the weekend of our reservation, due to the fires near Chelan, the air pollution was unsafe. We kept a close eye and tried to make the best out of the situation, but unfortunately we deemed the vacation unsafe because of the air quality. Multiple outlets kept showing us that the air IS NOT SAFE to breathe. That being said, the host kept being persistent that we go because everyone else is still outside having fun, but I didn’t care to risk that with my family. I asked for a refund due to it being safety hazard and the host refused and kept pressing that we just go “enjoy” our stay. I’ve tried being civil but at this point it’s disrespectful to just keep telling me to just come enjoy the stay. They offered to switch the dates from Friday to Sunday to Sunday to Tuesday, as if we didn’t hav this planned out for specific dates and have work the following days. Money isn’t the issue, it’s the principle that I was ignored multiple times, with prior warning to the smoke concern. Why would I bring my brother that has asthma to a “vacation” where his health is at risk. Or the rest of my family cause the air wasn’t even suitable for “normal” people!

Yes there were fires. They were many miles away. Nevertheless, thousands of people were enjoying the Lake during those dates. We sent the guest multiple photos of the blue skies overhead, boaters enjoying the lake, 10 to 15 miles of visibility, the lack of significant smoke here at our waterfront home. We understand the guest's concern. Unfortunately, online news sources often use words like "unsafe," exaggerated words that attract clicks, but do not reflect the reality. We offered the guest a fee-free stay if he wanted to extend his stay at no additional cost.

Quiet Rustic Chelan home on the lake

Last minute get away to a rustic Chelan home. You’ll get your steps in from the drive way to the home then down to the private dock on the lake! We fished and fished and fished! Trout were beautiful! Bookshelves are packed with every kind of book genre to explore. Host Stan is a delight and very attentive! If you are fussy, I’d suggest you bring along your favorite kitchen pan and linens. No WI-FI. Sit back and enjoy the the view and solitude of this lake retreat!

We are so pleased you enjoyed your getaway at our Lake Chelan waterfront home. Even the fishing was great. We have added more kitchenware and a variety of linens. Wi-Fi will be available for guests who ask in advance.

Rustic, incredible location, amazing value

Looking for lake access directly from the front of a house...check. Stunning morning views of the lake from the bedroom windows and deck...check. All the basics to enjoy a trip to Lake Chelan...check. Located out of the hustle of the resort city, but close enough to enjoy it on your time...check. What it isn't is a house of luxury. Think more rustic cabin loaded with books and antiques. If you are looking for a wind down from the busy city life, this is a GREAT spot. If you are in need of the latest luxury amenities, this is not. Owner was very honest and upfront and there were no surprises. Owner was incredibly nice and accommodating. The location alone is worth every penny and the property met every expectation our family had for a laid back, relaxing escape.

Location and hospitality

Fantastic location on the coveted, quieter south shore of Lake Chelan. All the amenities needed for a relaxing stay - rare to find a quiet, pet friendly place located right on the water. Rent this property for a rustic, laid back lake cabin experience. The host is accommodating and kind, and we hope to make this stay a yearly occurrence if available!
