Better Off Staying at a Shelter!
The majority of the experience was awful. The living room and tv were nice and the wifi worked well and that’s the only nice thing I can say about this property. It was advertised as being in Greenwich, but was actually in Plumstead, many miles away from where we really needed to be. It had one toilet and one bathroom, which were downstairs and right next door to the kitchen. So if u needed the loo in the middle of the night, you would have to come all the way down some extremely steep stairs, walk past the kitchen, to get to the loo. Most awful of all, there was this constant odour of sewage that could be perceived throughout the house, but especially from the kitchen/toilet area. Even when the toilet was flushed and no one had recently used it, that odour would remain. There were ALOT of air fresheners plugged into various sockets of the property, so it initially smelt lovely when we walked in, but then it soon became apparent they were to mask something. The kitchen was nice enough, but old, rough and water damaged at the edges. The cheapest, not even up to builders grade kitchen possible. And it’s proximity to the toilet and bathroom, along with that smell, made it unpleasant to be in. There was a washing machine, with a very sticky door and it was lucky I didn’t break a nail on it. It did wash the clothes well, but then there were no dryers nor drying line in the poorly maintained back garden. The dining table itself was nice and large, but then it was on carpet, which made it a very tense experience feeding the kids on it. The third bedroom, which we used as the master bedroom, because it was the only room with just a double bed in it; was so tiny, we couldn’t keep a single suitcase in it and one had to climb onto the bed and walk across it to get to the other side of the bed! If we were not already paid up by the time we got there, we would have left soon after seeing it. We felt trapped and deceived and were relieved to leave once our reservation was over. I’m sure there are shelters in better shape than this property was. If it was a cheaper property for people up and coming in life, we would have enjoyed it as that and daydreamed of a brighter future when we could afford better. But what really leaves a bad taste is that this property is not cheap. The owner is charging the same rates as well located properties in good condition for his dilapidated, tatted over mess and that’s not okay! So u pay for something amazing, but don’t get it.

Hello Henry,
The house was advertised to be in Plumstead area of London and stated on the listing detail that the house is located in Plumstead.I guess you did not check properly as postcode are used to list the property location. Being a last minute the chances is that you failed to read the property description because is was a last minute. The house is a Victorian House built in the 18th Century, hence the design of the toilet with close proximity with the kitchen, the design of the house is still in its original form and well maintained. Your Sewage odour claim was investigate and there is no evidence of any such smell. The Washing machine works well as your were able to do your washing, you need to wait to open the door once each washing is done and the machine has completed its circle and indicates ready before you can open the door. Ariel for drying clothes was provided for the house I noticed it was damaged and now has been replaced.The bedroom in question is a double bedroom I appreciate is small be equipped with two Chester drawers and a stand alone wardrobe.
You said you felt trapped in the house and was relieved that your reservation was over, however I was surprise to meet you in the house around 11:00am and check out time was supposed to be10:00am as advertised. You did not ask for extended check out time and you suggest a sense of entitlement for you to check out at time you will, without asking the host. It was at my arrival at the property to conduct routine check out procedure that you then deem it fit to inform me that you are planning to check out at 12:00 noon. I had to tell you we need to prepare the house for the next guest coming and left the property hoping you will keep to your 12:00 noon but you did not checked out until at about 1:30pm which disrupted our work and this is not acceptable.

Great house for a family of 6
Very clean and easy self check in. Three bedrooms and a table for 6 is always a plus. Public transport was very efficient (even late) although it was a little far from main London attractions. Very quiet neighborhood.
Overall, highly recommend.
