Hi, we’re Dennis & Anouk, the proud owners of Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

Our story began in 1999 when we met while working for a well-known tour operator in the Netherlands. Since then, travel and hospitality have been at the heart of our lives. Together, we’ve explored 53 countries and, in 2015, we launched our hospitality photography company, DEAN Productions. Over the years, we’ve stayed in countless hotels, lodges, and villas around the world, all of which inspired the design, atmosphere, and thoughtful details you’ll find at Ubuntu Luxury Villa.

Although we still travel for work, Hoedspruit is truly home. We love the bush, the wildlife, and the peaceful lifestyle it offers. Anouk is also a passionate wildlife photographer, you can find her work on Instagram under @photosofafricanwildlife.

When we’re in town, we sometimes have the pleasure of meeting our guests personally. But even if we’re away, you’ll be in the very best hands. Our wonderful local hosts, Jackie and Shannon, help take care of everything at the villa. They also own Keystone Café in Hoedspruit and offer our exclusive private chef evenings — a favorite among our guests.

We’re always happy to help you create a personalized program for your stay. Whether it’s safari game drives, massages on the villa’s private viewing deck, or exploring nearby highlights like the Blyde River Canyon, we’re here to help make your stay truly memorable.

In our free time, we enjoy playing padel, going on bush walks, and cooking together. Anouk loves experimenting in the kitchen while Dennis happily plays the role of sous-chef. And Dennis never misses a good football match!

Why We Chose Hoedspruit and Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate

We first discovered Hoedspruit in 2017, and it was love at first sight. After just a few days, we looked at each other and said, “If we could ever build a home here, that would be amazing.” That dream became reality in 2018, when we found and purchased the perfect piece of land. Less than a year later, in August 2019, Ubuntu Luxury Villa was completed, our personal sanctuary in the bush.

What makes Hoedspruit so special to us is its unique balance. It’s still a small, friendly town, but also known as the safari capital of South Africa. There's a strong sense of community here, a mix of locals and internationals, many of them entrepreneurs. And despite being in the heart of the Lowveld, the town offers everything you need: supermarkets, great restaurants and coffee spots, boutique shops, a private hospital, and even padel courts!

We specifically chose to build Ubuntu Luxury Villa on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate because it offers the best of both worlds. You're just 5 minutes from town, yet it feels like you're deep in the bush. The estate has a wilderness area with free-roaming wildlife, perfect for walking, running, or cycling safely while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Warthogs, kudu, and even giraffes are regular visitors.

For us, Hoedspruit isn’t just a destination, it’s home, and we’re so excited to share it with you.

Every element reflects the details we’ve loved most from the many hotels and lodges we’ve photographed.

Located on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, the villa offers the perfect balance: just 5 minutes from shops, restaurants, and even padel courts, yet surrounded by free-roaming wildlife and peaceful bush views. You can walk, run, or cycle through the wilderness area, while warthogs, kudu, and giraffes often wander past the villa.
