Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Town: Skipsea is located in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a generally rural environment surrounded by rich, agricultural terrain, yet it is also only one mile from the beach and close to the North Sea cliffs. There is a Post Office and general store in the settlement, as well as a hairdresser and a pub. Cobbles from the seashore are used in the construction of many of the village's dwellings, both ancient and new. The ruins of Skipsea Castle may be found just outside the hamlet. The neighbouring countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, while the neighbouring seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey offer vast stretches of sandy beach and a variety of resort attractions. Hull's Deep Submarium, Sledmere House, and Burton Constable Hall are all within 20 miles, while historic York's shops, cathedral, and museum, Scarborough's resort town, and Pickering's North Yorks Moors Steam Railway are all within an hour's drive, and Whitby is only a short distance away, making Skipsea an ideal base for a relaxing holiday.
