Perfect for me!

Couldn’t ask for a better situation! Came to the property on a transfer for work and this place was a great welcome to the island. Close to the popular hot spots Waikiki offers but far enough away from the main hustle and bustle.

Overall OK

The property was ok. The photos are not up to date. There is a new couch, which is stated in the listing. So there is no extra pull out queen bed. Not a huge deal but it’s time for new photos. The property is a bit older and it shows with small wear and tear noticeable throughout. Ex: trash drawer in kitchen doesn’t close all the way, there are dings in the washer dryer right when you walk in. Not a deal breaker but something to note. No windows in the bedroom. The bathroom sink stops draining if you use more than a tiny amount of water. It will drain over night though. The bathroom wasn’t super clean. I ended up cleaning before I used it. There was hair in the drain trap and the light switches changed color after I wiped them down. Same for the light switch in the bedroom. You can’t use the lanai if you have the AC in the living room on. It gets way too hot like a sauna. The washer smells of mold and has mold stains. No one left the washer door open after use. So it’s got permanent mold smell. But this didn’t affect my clothes. It’s just a shock to see when you open the washer. It does smell but the dryer gets rid of it. Overall it was just ok. I stayed for a month and it was close enough to Waikiki. I was disappointed in the quality for the price.

Location - View - Budget

I had an incredible stay at this property. I was looking primarily for a full kitchen (full fridge, oven and stove etc etc) within budget and I got all of that and more. Also because it is lived-in there is lots of utensils that were available. It’s def in the quieter side of Waikiki with open views since there’s a school on one side and the canal on the other. The property manager could not have been more accommodating and kind before and during my stay. Having a reserved parking spot was a huge plus. Being within walking distance to bus stops, the beach and all the eateries along Kapahulu was an ever bigger plus for me. Can’t thank you all enough for this stay.

May 2019 Stay

We spent the entire month of May in 706, to our complete satisfaction. App. is well equipped and there is nothing missing in our eyes so all praise. Next year we will definitely return to Canal House. Again perfectly arranged by Captain Cook as we have been used to for all those years. Greetings from the Netherlands, Ab and Corry Mos.

Apartment was great...but check in and check out sucked

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My employer rented one of the Captain Cook apartments for me to live in during my one month trip to Hawaii. I'll say that the accomodations were perfect for one person, with all the amenities I needed. The kitchen and bathroom were also stocked with supplies of disposables so I didn't have to run to the grocery store for TP the day I arrived Unfortunately, the check in and check out processes were unorganized, and overall left me with a bad impression of the company. I have double and triple checked the reservation confirmation that was sent to me by Captain Cook, confirming my arrival and departure dates. Despite this, when I arrived at 11 PM on a Sunday, never having been in Hawaii, the property manager was unprepared, thinking I was arriving the following day. I had to wait 45 min for him to arrive. At that timed we reviewed my check out date so there wouldn't be a repeat. One week before checking out I called AGAIN to review my check out date. Despite this, I got calls from the apartment manager and the main office the day BEFORE I was supposed to check out, saying that the cleaning service had keyed in and found my items there. The manager actually sounded annoyed that I was not checked out, despite him being told multiple times that it was a different date. Overall i'm glad I didn't need management for anything else during my stay.
