Charming Rustic 2 bedroom annex cottage

This little house sits adjacent to our larger unique house which was the village restaurant/epicerie/bar in times past. The annex is now a two bedroom house with huge attic overlooking the village. Lovely garden and your own rustic kitchen, bathroom and dining/living area with wood burner. Use of the wood burner is recommended in winter as the main source of heating, fuel is provided. ***Update march 2022.. wall mounted radiators now installed in all rooms! ***Update January 2023.. New Bathroom just installed, New Kitchen worktop and breakfast bar complete and dishwasher installed.

Mini stay with family

Charming,full of character with everything that we needed. Peaceful location and very relaxing We made great use of the produce vending machine in the village. Great choice and perfect for a few days away.

Typical Negected French Rural House DIY restored

The enironment is great, typical rural french. Great beaches nearby. Interior typical french second hand, but it has it radiators everywhere, a fireplace, good beds, a good bath room and a good kitchen. The minor is the state of the house. I can smile at it, but I do not think I will ever use it for a long stay. Maybe I will go back for a short stay though.

Potential unfulfilled

Lots to like perhaps, but more dingy, dilapidated and drab than quaint and picturesque. On arrival (having overcome the keysafe mounted far too high) the house stank - probably of butane cooking gas, because basically the cleaner had achieved miracles given the mess lying around. The shutters were all closed so the house was dark and fusty. The fridge didn’t work and the integral freezer wasn’t. There was no toaster or hairdryer; the bathroom mirror was mounted too high for most women; personal wash and shaving kit in the bathroom; an internal connecting door to an adjoining property left unsecured. On the plus side: really interesting structure, wonderful attic lounge (but the stairs to it are really dangerous and should be condemned), great outside space, good bed and bedroom linen. Recommended for anyone happy living in interesting squalor, otherwise avoid.

Hi Robert, so sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. We do feel some of your comments are rather unfair as we did ask you to contact us with any questions or problems and heard nothing. Some things we could have helped with: The fridge and freezer are fully working and simply needed to be turned up. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom cupboard. There is indeed no toaster but we dont advertise that there is. In four years of rentals no one has ever complained about the height of the key lockbox or the bathroom mirror? Anyway we will take on board your comments and try to address them wherever possible. Kind regards Bill

Needs TLC and investigation of foul drainage smell

Lovely area. Garden full of character. Bedding and towels clean enough. House clean on arrival. The main problem for us was the musty and Foul drainage stench. It was sickening at times. Air fresheners everywhere to mask the smell . Noticed on last day that smoke alarm battery appeared to have been disconnected. Upstairs area and stairs upto needs structural investigation. Stairs need condemning until inspected. Lock needed on bathroom door! Sofas past their best and need a good clean. Don't get me wrong we were expecting basic as the price would dictate but not this basic. We spent most of the time out of the house. The site is extremely dark and a wee bit creepy, possessions left in place, especially upstairs. Nah won't be returning. Has wonderful potential with a bit of TLC but as it is at the mo wouldn't recommend.

Een grote ontgoocheling

Wij huurden de gîte om er de laatste dagen van het jaar door te brengen en samen met vrienden Nieuwjaar te vieren. Toen wij er aankwamen was onze ontgoocheling groot: De gîte was heel vochtig, het behangpapier kwam los van de muren, er waren schimmelvlekken. De wind waaide doorheen het huis en het huis was koud en moeilijk op te warmen. De houtkachel werkte niet goed door een vochtige schoorsteen en er was rookontwikkeling. De aangeboden houtblokken waren te lang en pasten niet in de kachel. Na een hele nacht alle elektrische radiatoren op het maximum te laten werken hadden we s morgens een temperatuur van 18 graden. Een venster in de leefruimte was stuk en het gat was gedicht met een plastiekzak. De zitstoelen in het salon waren doorzeten. De kasten in de keuken waren vuil. Wij konden niet anders dan het verblijf na 1 nacht verlaten en de eigenaar op de hoogte te brengen van onze beweegredenen hiervoor. We kregen een deel van ons geld terug, maar niet de boekingskosten. Wij hadden ons eindejaar helemaal anders voorgesteld en moesten ontgoocheld huiswaarts keren, een illusie armer. De eigenaar vroeg ons om geen reviews te plaatsen, maar wij voelen ons verplicht om dit toch te doen zodat andere potentiële huurders niet in dezelfde val trappen.

Please ignore these vindictive people. You can see our recent reviews are positive. They turned up very late and did not communicate at all. We left the fire running for them with plenty of logs. In addition there are new wall mounted electric radiators in every room which can heat the whole house. We asked them to request to cancel to allow us to provide a refund which they would not do. We then refunded the full amount we received in good faith. Stay clear of these people.

Een alles overheersende schimmel lucht

Het interieur was leuk en smaakvol. De ligging was goed. In potentie een heel mooi huisje. Helaas bedierf de sterke schimmelucht ons verblijf. Die lucht was overal aanwezig en vooral in de woonkamers en de slaapkamers. De aanwezige elektrische ontvochters leken geen verschil te maken. Het voelde zeer ongezond. Het vele spinnenrag wat aan de plafond, balken en aan de accesoires hing was niet nodig geweest maar dat was nog wel overkomelijk. Het huisjes mist de goede zorgen van een timmerman. Alles kiert en veel hangt van noodreparaties aan elkaar vast. Daarnaast bollen de plafondplaten en wandplaten op waardoor overal kieren ontstaan waardoor een goede schoonmaak niet meer mogelijk is.

Hi Rik so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy some elements of the house. It is a rustic timber framed french house we have been renovating for years and we continue to work on it. Our next project will be to upgrade the attic room for example. We keep our prices low and are honest with our photos and description to acknowledge this. Regarding the smell I am sorry you experienced this, when I went in before you arrived I could not smell any damp but we have had a lot of rain and it was unseasonably cold which is why I lit the fire ready for your arrival. Fantastisch verblijf

Authentiek huis, grote tuin, niet volledig afgesloten. Ligt vrij dicht aan de weg. Verder alles aanwezig wat nodig is. Ontzettend aardige eigenaar, reageerde vrijwel direct als er iets was. Ook onze honden waren erg welkom.

Unser Aufenthalt war wirklich schön!!! Wir haben gut geschlafen und es gab in dem Haus alles was wir brauchten! Der Vermieter ist unglaublich nett und freundlich! Wer wirklich alte Häuser und rustikale Inneneinrichtung mag ist hier genau richtig. Wir jedenfalls fanden es wunderbar und werden noch lange an unseren Urlaub zurück denken! Vielen lieben Dank dafür!!!

Endroit bucolique mais gaché par l'humidité

Nous avions réservé deux nuits à Mouriez et nous sommes partis avant de passer la seconde nuit. Pour résumer, l'endroit est charmant, certaines pièces ont été rénovées et le jardin apaisant. CEPENDANT, un gros problème d'humidité ! Les pièces sentent, le lit est humide et le pire reste l'étage oû l'odeur d'humidité est tellement puissante que j'ai cru que cela sentait l'urine rance... Il a dû avoir un dégât des eaux dans la bâtisse et le propriétaire n'a peut être pas pu réglé encore les dégâts. Donc bonne communication, bonnes indications, endroit charmant mais ce point noir a tout gâché

Bonjour Sarah, mes excuses pour le retard dans la réponse à cet avis. nous nous excusons également pour les problèmes que vous avez rencontrés pendant votre séjour. nous avons depuis découvert une petite fuite dans une canalisation d'eau chaude derrière la cuisine qui a causé d'importants problèmes dès que le temps est devenu froid cet hiver. nous pensons que c'était la principale cause des problèmes d'humidité que vous mentionnez, mais nous l'avons maintenant résolu. cordialement Bill

Très bon séjour

Très bon séjour. La maison était propre. Les lits étaient faits (bonne literie). Si vous aimez les meubles anciens, cette maison est pour vous. Le jardin est grand et est très agréable. : 30 mn des plages et à 1h d'Arras.

Maison typique avec du charme et du caractère. La place de parking est idéale et l’extérieur est très calme. L’espace a l’étage est très fonctionnel. A peine 30 minutes de la côte, à découvrir sans hésiter.
