This charming country cottage has been lovingly restored to welcome guests into the quintessential Suffolk village of Earl Soham.
Couples and groups of three are spoilt with the peace and comfort offered by the cottage. The village of Earl Soham in East Suffolk is perfectly located for guests to enjoy the Heritage Coastal Beaches and all the other sights and sounds to explore on foot or by bicycle. Country pubs, independent shops and boutiques, castles, bird watching, water sports await.
You are welcomed in to Number Five through the front door from the front garden.
The ground floor is home to the living space, kitchen/dining space, shower room and rear hall.
Upstairs is a very large king bedroom and a small single bedroom.
The Ground Floor
Bursting with character and original features, this 300 year old mid terrace cottage has oak beams, some low ceilings and small steps up and down into the spaces.
The Living Room
The floor in the living space and kitchen is oak laminate.
There's plenty of comfortable seating on the blue velvet sofa and chairs. Features include conveniently placed side tables and cosiness is promised with the electric flame effect stove.
Beside the living area is a dedicated work space with desk, chair, desk lamp and a window overlooking the cottage garden.
The Kitchen / Dining Room
Renovated to a very high standard. Beautifully designed and crafted, guests have everything for a self catering break away.
Appliances include an integrated slimline dishwasher, electric oven with grill, ceramic hob, under-counter fridge with ice box, a washing machine in the rear hall cupboard, Nespresso VERTUO coffee machine (please bring pods). There is a microwave in the cupboard under the stairs and a kettle and toaster on the worktop.
Enjoy your meals at the circular table with seating for three on velvet chairs.
The Shower Room
Situated at the back of the cottage is the shower room, with large electric shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.
First Floor
A door leads from the living room to the stairs which rise to the first floor main bedroom. The stairs are quite narrow and steep but in-keeping with the nature of the cottage. They are carpeted and there is a handrail.
King Bedroom
This surprisingly spacious bedroom offers guests an impressive mahogany king size, sleigh bed with side tables and lamps. There'a an attractive dressing table with mirror, a chest of drawers and a rail with hangers for storage.
The original oak floor boards are a wonderful feature, although a little uneven (which we forgive considering their age).
The window with secondary glazing overlooks the village tennis court with fields beyond.
The stairs lead up to this bedroom so the white bannisters are another feature but guests must be careful especially with young children.
Single Bedroom
Up a step from the king bedroom and through a doorway, with VERY low head height, is the single bedroom.
With views of the back garden this bedroom is suitable for a child or small adult, with the single mahogany sleigh bed and dressing table. Some couples use this as a dressing room.
Outside
At the front of the cottage is a small front garden with gated, white picket fence.
The cottage benefits from a good sized rear garden which is enclosed by fencing with shrubs and herbs in the borders. There's also an old water pump which is a lovely feature.
The garden faces West so guests have sunshine for most of the day. Enjoy sunny afternoons and evenings with alfresco meals and drinks on the decking.
Although the garden is enclosed we would never like to say 'dog proof ' so please do not leave your dog or children unattended in the garden.
Parking
Unrestricted and unallocated parking can be found on the street outside the cottage.
You'll have the cottage and garden to yourselves for the entirety of your stay.
The host is office based but available on the phone if needed. The host lives locally and assist guests as and when required.
Due to the nature and age of the cottage, there are internal steps, original oak beams and low head height in places.
The gate at the end of the garden leads to private land which is not for use by guests.
No Parties
1 Dog permitted.
