Two bed period cottage, in the delightful village of Barley, at the foot of Pendle Hill. In the Forest of Bowland, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Neceling in the heart of the village, in a secluded cobbled courtyard and fronting the river, the cottage has a lovely farmhouse kitchen, compleat with appliances, cozy sitting room with log burner, two double ensuite bathrooms, period features and is ideal for either two couples or small family.

Lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world. Cottage was as described and had everything we needed for our stay. Conveniently located in a small village with 2 local pubs yards away, great for food too.

My partner and I had a lovely stay in this cosy cottage. We enjoyed walking in the nearby woods and hills, eating in the pub next door, and relaxing in front of the wood-burning stove each evening.

Everything was fabulous! The cottage is very beautiful and cozy in a great location in the countryside. The host was very welcoming and accomodating. Hope to return again in the future! Loved it!

We had a very comfortable stay at this lovely cottage. The kitchen was very well equipped with an Aga, air fryer, halogen oven and double electric ring. This gave you cooking options.Lots of pots, pans and utensils. The coffee maker was a Tassimo. We had a welcome pack of milk, fresh orange juice and wine. Handy as there is no village shop.The wood burner was ready made up- although we didn't use it.Comfortable beds, towels and nice toiletries. Walk in shower in one room's en suite. Over bath shower and bath in the other ensuite. Plenty of storage space and hangers Don't remember the description mentioning the utility room with washing machine (no drier) and downstairs tollet. This was a bonus.All well supplied with dishwasher tablets, liquid soap, toilet roll etc.Good clear and quick communication with the owner (eg when we had a question during our stay) Thanks for everything Simon.We would definitely recommend this cottage with all it's antiques for a cosy stay

Exceeded expectations

Last minute booking to enjoy the weather but will be returning for numerous reasons - location (village is lovely), stunning cottage, great host and so much more. We had the best stay here, even if it was just for one night.

Wonderful cottage in stunning location

It’s a gorgeous cottage and the location is perfect for exploring Pendle. Several walks start and finish within a few yards of the cottage including various routes up Pendle Hill. Lovely quiet location, beds, showers and all facilities were excellent and Simon a very helpful host. Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely relaxing break

The property was lovely and clean and had beautiful Decor. Beds very comfortable. Great location to some great walks. 2 great pubs for eating and drinking. We would all go back in the future. Very relaxing weekend. Had a great time.

Super, cosy home from home!

A cosy, very comfortable and very quiet cottage in a fabulous location with great furnishings and a homely feel. Beds and bedding were comfortable with plenty of linen and towels available and a well equipped kitchen. Ensuite bathroom for each bedroom was appreciated as were the products provided. There was also a good utility area with room for coats and wet boots! Lovely log burner which we used despite it being June! Parking was convenient to the cottage as was the choice of two local pubs within a few minutes walk. Loved the quietness and easy access to surrounding countryside for walking.

From the moment you open the front door, you realise you are staying somewhere that's going to be warm, and cosy and a perfect winter stay.If there was one word that sums up the cottage, it would be quality. You enter into a huge kitchen with a wooden dining table and a big, aga cooker that dominates and throws out heat, making this a comfortable place to sit and while away the day. This must have THE best equipped kitchen I've ever stayed in. It has absolutely everything you might need, and much besides. We found a bottle of wine, orange juice, milk, plus all the litttle bits and pieces you have in your own kitchen store. All very welcoming.Walking through into the lounge area, you are greeted by two really comfortable sofas and a large coffee table. So often rentals are let down by uncomfortable sofas and chairs, but not here. The cottage has a very effective (and controllable) central heating system, so you are never going to feel cold - and that's before you get to the log burner. When the 'feels like -9c' temp outside bites, it's great to return to a comfy and warm and welcoming home. It's an old, period cottage that's been renovated tastefully and in keeping with its surroundings. It's filled with antiques and little bits and pieces that make it feel lived in and homely. Upstairs, the best are as good as any I've slept in and again, quality is everywhere. We're already contemplating a return visit.Simon the host, was fantastic, as were the neighbours.
