The Shieling

Welcome to The Shieling, Aviemore. Your perfect retreat for a memorable holiday experience in the heart of Cairngorms National Park.



Our large holiday home is perfect for large groups seeking comfortable and spacious family group accommodation. The Shieling is a fantastic large family house with enough room to accommodate up to 12 guests. With five beautifully decorated bedrooms and four bathrooms, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax and unwind. Dogs are also welcome to join in the family fun at The Shieling.



The lodge features a fully equipped kitchen, ideal for those who enjoy cooking. Our dining area offers a great space for a gathering. It includes a large table for meals and another dining space in the conservatory.



Our big holiday cottage is designed to offer maximum comfort, with a cosy living room featuring a wood burning stove, comfortable seating, and a large flat-screen TV. Not forgetting some fantastic views of The Cairngorms in the background.



One of the standout features of The Shieling is undoubtedly the outdoor hot tub. Soaking away the daily stresses of life is perfect in the private hot tub. It is the ideal place to relax and take in the beautiful views of the mountains. Towels, robes and slippers make this experience even more luxurious.



A large log cabin style bench table sits close to the built in charcoal BBQ for some perfect summer evenings.



Families will love the location, with a pony field close by and a short walk into the village of Aviemore. Included is a cot and high chair for little ones staying at The Shieling.

Really nice accommodation

This house is perfect for large groups. Loads of space, good kitchen area and a nice hot tub. Would definitely recommend.

Clean and Neat, value for money, Accessible accommodation from town centre, Friendly Neighbourhood.

Property is neat and clean, accessible from town just few mins walk from tesco, aldi, bus stop, Value for money. Really liked the Christmas decoration in the house. Overall it was awesome stay

Large family group stay in Aviemore Fab experience at The Shielling

Our family group of 6 adults and 3 children stayed at The Sheilling Aviemore for 3 nights. The property was ideal in size, location and fully kitted out with all the basic essentials too! The owners at The Sheilling have thought of everything to make your stay smooth and comfortable. Highly recommend this accommodation to large groups looking for a property within Aviemore with excellent facilities and hot tub.

Lovely Aviemore Stay

Lovely accommodation in a great location. An extremely well equipped kitchen with lovely living and dining area that was perfect for our family holiday. Beds comfy, water pressure and temperatures excellent in the showers. Some issues with cleanliness on arrival and late being able to use the hot tub but the communication was excellent and we were properly compensated so this was very well handled. The only other thing to mention for others using the accommodation is that the wooden floorboards in the end of the house with the two twin rooms are very noisy. It’s ok if you all get up at the same time but if not it can be a little disruptive to those sleeping.

Great house for large group.

Loved the L-shaped layout as youger kids could far enough away to avoid being disturbed by others using hotub in the evening.Really helpful as age ranged from 11months to 68. The kitchen had ample serving dishes and utensils with 2 dining areas which really suited our group.Hot tub was an added bonus. Disposing of rubbish was a little confusing as there was a bin for glass, bin for food and anothdr for stuff said to be unrecyclable but nothing for stuff that was, for eg milk cartons and cardboard.

Excellent holiday home for a visit to Aviemore

Great house for a family gathering at Christmas time - hot tub was fantastic and plenty space for 12 of us plus a little dog. Conservatory could be a little cold for winter but fortunately weather was mild and we were able to use both dining table for Christmas dinner. Location is excellent - shops; loch morlich, ice skating etc. Would highly recommend. The hosts were brilliant and happy to answer any queries. The hamper & Christmas decorations were a lovely bonus!

Generally excellent

Generally excellent. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Access easy and location private although handy for access to the village. We would stay here again. The hot tub was very popular and was regularly maintained. Kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms had clean linen with comfortable beds. Bathrooms clean and modern with fresh towels etc Nothing !

The house was spacious and well laid out

The house was spacious and well laid out. It was clean and tidy. There was a high chair and travel cot we were able to use. The hot tub was very relaxing, just what is needed after looking after 18 month old. Lovely quiet area.

The property is ideal for a large group to spread out, socialise and chill. Was immaculate. We were really impressed. Hot tub was such a treat for a daily dip and comfortably fitted the whole party. Location is a lovely short walk to Aviemore centre where there are lovely wee shops, places to eat and drink. The Loch is stunning and the fireworks display was a fab way to end the weekend. Thanks for having us.

Great house with lots of bedrooms and space, well located

Good standard of accommodation - nothing is crazily flash but it's a huge property with loads of bathrooms and bedrooms. Good location for walking into Aviemore / visiting local sights The hot tub on the patio is a great perk, alongside an enclosed garden so perfect for dogs The hot tub didn't stay at temperature but kept getting hotter and hotter! Not an issue for some, but we had to leave it to cool for a few in our group. Some of the mattresses weren't as good as others, perhaps they can all be updated to the memory foam that was in the large family room (which were very comfortable!) The Oven might need a service, the grill element was loose and needs looking at.

We love this place!

This is our second time staying here as a large group and we absolutely love it. Erin is a pleasure to deal with. The accommodation is spacious and well laid out, with everything you need for your stay, even robes and slippers for using the hot tub. Which is also a huge hit, we couldn't get our kids out of it! We love the location too, on the very edge of Aviemore but only a 15/20 minute walk into the village. I've read a couple of reviews about the house/furniture being tired but for a large group accommodation in a busy tourist location, I think the standard is excellent. A couple of small things could use a little TLC to improve the aesthetic of the property, however this did not spoil our experience in the slightest. We look forward to staying again. BBQ could use a little attention or wouldn't hurt to replace. Hoover pipe becomes detached during use. Drains in back double room en suite require attention, and a couple of areas require maintenance just to polish off the excellent experience of staying here!

Perfekt für 8-12 Personen

Das Haus ist ideal für eine Großfamilie oder eine Gruppe mit bis zu 12 Personen. Wir waren eine 10-köpfige Gruppe von mehreren Motorradfahrern und Anhang (die nicht alle mitgefahren sind). Es bietet ein schönes großes Wohnzimmer mit gemütlichen Sofas, eine Küche mit allem was man braucht. Waschmaschine, Trockner, Geschirrspüler, Staubsauger etc. und eine schöne Essecke nebst Wintergarten und weiteren Essmöglichkeiten. Lediglich eine Kaffeemaschine um normalen Filterkaffee zu kochen, ist nicht vorhanden. Wir haben uns Instantkaffee aus dem Supermarkt geholt - geht genauso :). Das ganze Haus ist sauber und zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Die Zimmer sind OK, die Betten fangen für Personen über 1,80m jedoch schon an zu kneifen. Ich konnte mit über 1,90m leider nicht ausgestreckt schlafen. Der Whirlpool war auf 38,5 Grad geheizt und somit nach dem Motorradfahren ideal, um dem Körper Erholung und Entspannung zurückzugeben.Alles in allem waren wir mit unserer Wahl sehr zufrieden, würden es auch sofort wieder buchen und empfehlen es gerne weiter.
