Cliff-top Cottage on Coast Path w/Panoramic Views
Summary:
Experience breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline, sunsets, and starry skies at this luxury renovated two-bedroom cottage. With a prime location in a designated dark sky zone, enjoy a deserted beach and coastal path from the doorstep. Watch the waves rolling in and relax by the log burner, or savour the sunset from the cliff-top garden. Bridgend Cottage is perfectly positioned for Pembrokeshire adventures; Salt & City Stays offers an unparalleled coastal getaway at this unique cottage.
The Space:
Welcome to Bridgend Cottage, a true gem perched overlooking the picturesque Aberfelin Beach, with direct access to the famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Prepare to be captivated by the rugged beauty of the coastline, stretching out in both directions, home to so may adventures. Just a short stroll away, you'll find the charming villages of Trefin, with its welcoming atmosphere and local pub. Whether you're seeking a family break, a romantic getaway, or a thrilling group adventure, this magnificent location serves as the perfect base to explore all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. There is parking best suited to small/regular size vehicles and yes, we happily welcome dogs too!
Upon entering the property, you'll find yourself in the cosy downstairs snug, providing the ideal spot to clear sandy feet or kick off muddy boots. To the right, a stylish and spacious family bathroom awaits, with a walk-in rain shower and WC. This versatile space also doubles as a convenient utility room, equipped with a washer and condensing dryer. On the left, you'll discover a relaxing sofa, to sit and watch the Smart Flat screen TV, play on the PlayStation 4 or to read a book.
Passing through the arch in the thick stone walls, you'll be greeted by the twin bedroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the room in natural light, while treating you to stunning views of the bay. Ascending to the upper level, your eyes will be instantly drawn to the incredible view framed by the panoramic window running the length of the dining and living space. Take a moment to perch on the window bench, coffee or glass of wine in hand, and immerse yourself in the scenes of Aberfelin Bay.
The modern and stylish kitchen, fully equipped with everything you need for a self-catering stay, invites culinary creativity and transforms cooking into a delightful social occasion with the open-plan dining area. Coffee lovers will also appreciate the French press, perfect for a slow morning brew. At the far end of the room, a welcoming log burner and cosy living space await, providing the ultimate retreat on cold or wet days, as well as a haven for relaxation in the evenings.
The first-floor master bedroom, with a king-size bed, is at the far end of the cottage. Thanks to the French doors and Juliette balcony, you can enjoy the magnificent coastal views without even leaving the comfort of your bed.
Step out of the front door of the cottage and cross the road to the cliff-top garden, which is set across three levels giving an ever-changing outlook and the chance to chase the last of the evening sun. It really doesn't get closer to the cliffs than this, so we advise that dogs and younger group members are not left unsupervised when in the garden.
Bridgend Cottage has undergone a loving restoration, turning the 200-year-old cottage into a stylish and tranquil hideaway on the mesmerizing Pembrokeshire Coast. With the unforgettable views and a truly unique location, we are certain that you will fall in love with this space just as we have.
Please note the parking for the cottage is on the roadside. Due to the rural nature of the cottage and narrow country lanes, parking is better suited to small/regular size vehicles. Parking is available either parallel to the garage doors or in one of the pull-in laybys on the road. Sorry, the garage is not for guest use.
Guest Access:
During your stay, you'll have private access to the entire cottage and gardens set across three levels. We advise that dogs and younger group members are not left unsupervised when in the garden.
Please note the garage is not accessible during your stay. Parking is available either parallel to the garage doors or in one of the pull-in laybys on the road.
The Neighborhood:
We're very lucky to have the Pembrokeshire National Park Coast Path directly on our door step. Turn left or right out of the front door and explore the stunning coves and cliff in either direction. This is truly a very special spot on a quiet part of the North Pembrokeshire coastline.
The cottage overlooks Aberfelin Beach which is steeped in history with the ruins of the 18th Century Water Mill at the foot of our garden. When the tide is out, it uncovers some of the best rock pools in the area, full of crabs and shrimp and prime for a day of adventure for the family. This little sand and shingle beach has its own special island with a tunnel you can walk through at low tide and the clear blue water is perfect for sea swimming on calmer days.
A few hundred meters away lies the village of Trefin, offering a warm welcome and a chance to experience the local charm. Be sure to visit the local pub, the Ship, where you can savour homemade meals and sample the local ales. Tthe Farmer's Arms in Mathry, as well as The Sloop and The Shed in Porthgain, are just a scenic mile away, providing you with your choice of local dining options. Of course, should you prefer a cosy night in, our fully-equipped kitchen allows you to enjoy a homecooked meal, followed by a relaxing evening in front of the crackling wood burner or enjoying the starrey display from the panoramic window.
We would recommend having access to a car to make the most of your visit. The cottage is well situated to visit everything Pembrokeshire has to offer including St Davids (Europe's smallest City), and any of the coast's golden beaches including Whitesands, Newgale and Caerfai.
If you want to travel inland, you can visit the market town of Narberth with its galleries, café and craft shops and for a family day out, a visit to the award-winning Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Manor Park Wildlife Park, Oakwood Theme Park or Heatherton World of Activities is fully recommended!
Getting Around:
A car is essential at this location to enjoy all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. There are also some excellent cycling routes to explore. During the spring/summer months you can hire a bike to be delivered to you from Pembrokshire Bike Hire.
Other Things to Note:
-The garden is situated directly on the cliff's edge, overlooking Aberfelin Beach. There is also a rural coastal road running alongside the property. Please keep a safe distance from the edge and ensure dogs and children are supervised at all times.
-We provide a travel cot with cot mattress for babies- cot bedding is not supplied.
-Due to the rural nature of the cottage, parking is better suited to small/regular size vehicles. Please note the garage is not accessible during your stay.
