Apartment Großglockner is the perfect place to base yourself to explore all the sights and adventures offered in the Kaprun/Zell am See region. A bus stop is a 5-minute walk from Haus Schmitten. The historic centre of Zell am See is a short drive or bus ride away. In the summer it is perfect to walk or ride a bike along the path around the lake.
Summer is magical in Zell am See/Kaprun. Spend your days enjoying the mountain vistas on a hike stopping for lunch at one of the many traditional mountain Alms. The region is a popular spot for bike riding through the countryside or for the more adventurous exhilarating mountain bike trails await. The pristine Lake Zell is a perfect spot to enjoy sailing and water sports. Kitzsteinhorn, Sigmund Thun-Gorge, Kaprun High Mountain Reservoirs, Krimml Waterfalls (Europe’s highest waterfall) and the High Alpine Großglockner Mountain Road are only a short journey from Haus Schmitten.
In the winter, Zell am See/Kaprun becomes a world-class ski resort catering to all abilities. The Schmittenhöhe Areitbahn Gondola is located a 750m walk from Apartment Schmittenhöhe.
The local resorts of Kitzsteinhorn (100% snow guarantee Oct- early summer), Schmittenhöhe and Familienberg Maiskogel offer over 138km of perfectly groomed pistes. In addition, the Ski Circus at Saalbach/Hinterglemm and the Höchkonig Ski resort at Maria Alm can be reached within 30 minutes by car.
