This Award Winning beautiful Victorian apartment is modern and luxurious with restored period features. Tastefully designed with attentive detail and mod-cons such as wine cooler and underflooring heating. It boasts a stunning open plan dining and living space that is light and airy area to relax and socialise. Church Retreat is a multiple-award-winning Victorian apartment within the Beach Haus boutique collection, combining restored period architecture with modern comfort and thoughtful design. Gallery-level art, hand-painted murals, four-metre ceilings, Victorian cornicing, underfloor heating and a dedicated wine cooler create an elegant and quietly uplifting environment. Just moments from the seafront, cafés and galleries, the Retreat offers a spacious, calm setting for families, professionals and creative guests to read, cook, work or unwind.

Situated in a fantastic location 2 minutes walk from the heart of St Leonards, Warriors Square, beach and train station.
The space

Church Retreat has been lovingly restored retaining beautiful features including a elaborate fireplaces, period coving and ceiling roses. Local artists have also contributed making The Retreat a truly unique experience!

The open plan living / eating space is exceptional with high ceilings is loved by guests. There are two desk working spaces for those needing to catch up on emails. Furnishings are tasteful and modern with thoughtful use of lighting.

The Retreat consists of a very spacious master bedroom and a further sizable double bedrooms plus a double sofa bed to accommodates up to six guests in total.

Kitchen comes with modern fittings, which is fully fitted with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, gas hob and self-cleaning oven. It is well stocked with cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment. The bathroom is modern with heated towel rail.

TV is provided by 55-inch 4k Smart TV with Sound Bar streaming, which allows you to connect to your Amazon / Netflix accounts plus a variety of Freeview channels including BBC iPlayer / ITV/ Chanel4 etc.

Guest access
The entire apartment is available to you and has a private entrance.
Warrior Square train station is a short 6-minute walk. Free car parking is available outside and on surrounding streets.

Other things to note
We understand that sometimes circumstances require a little more flexibility when arriving or leaving, so we offer the possibility of an early check-in and/or late check-out, subject to availability. However, please note the following charges apply:

Early Check-In Fee: £15 for every additional hour or part thereof before the standard check-in time (3pm).

Late Check-Out Fee: £15 for every additional hour or part thereof beyond the standard check-out time (10am).

To ensure smooth transitions for all our guests, please inform us at least 48 hours in advance if you anticipate needing an early check-in or a late check-out. If this causes an inconvenience to incoming or outgoing guests, we may need to decline the request.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We booked a stay in this "award winning" apartment with our young family (2 year old and new born) expecting an award winning experience close to the beach in good location. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite experience for us. The first red flag was a message shortly before check in about a neighbour who was problematic and to report any unusual interactions with them... Second red flag was arriving to an apartment which was filthy, with no toilet rolls or hand soap in the bathroom and a blocked shower drain.We were told we could shower in a local leisure centre and waited 3 days before being able to shower. The cutlery was dirty, old grubbyscratched plates and crockery in the kitchen, old threadbare tea towels. The travel cot was old,smelly, and caked in a dried in brown substance (unusable). Cushions on the couch were smelly we had to launder ourselves. Damp and peeling paint in bedroom. Tattered net curtains. Exceptionally noisy neighbours both above and below (stomping through the night, loud alarm sounding for 90 mins each day at 5.50am). We had to leave a week early. Host offered remedial clean and 20% discount but would not refund final week. Our break was spent trying to clean flat, negotiate with neighbours and host who lives in London, very stressful. Then they accused us of damaging a WiFi plug in bedroom which was already damaged and never worked during our stay claiming it would cost "hundreds" to fix. Dodgy. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, as providing a high-quality guest experience is always our priority. However, we feel it is important to clarify several factual inaccuracies in your review for the benefit of future guests. The blocked shower drain was reported to us and was professionally resolved the following day. It was not out of service for three days. As soon as cleanliness concerns were raised, we arranged for our professional cleaning company to return immediately at no cost to you. Guest satisfaction is extremely important to us, and we acted promptly to address your concerns. As a gesture of goodwill, despite not accepting that all of the issues raised reflected the condition of the property, we provided a 20% refund on your entire stay. We also offered to relocate you to another of our multi-award-winning Gensing Lodge properties to ensure you could continue your holiday comfortably, but this offer was declined. The Church Retreat is a multi-award-winning property that has consistently received excellent feedback from the vast majority of our guests. Regarding the damage to the rear bedroom, we made you aware during your stay and provided photographic evidence of the issue. This was not an allegation made after your departure. We are also proud that every stay at Beach Haus contributes to several charitable causes, allowing our guests to support worthwhile initiatives sim
