Beautiful air-con villa with private pool In the canal-side village of Homps

Spacious villa with off road parking, a large garden, private 10m x 4m pool and air conditioning. Located in the small village of Homps (population 700) on the Canal du Midi which has six restaurants, a bar, supermarket and petrol station.
The villa is 30 minutes from the historic cities of Carcassonne, Beziers and Narbonne with lovely beaches nearby.
Comprehensive cooking facilities in the large, well-equipped kitchen. Large pool terrace with eight loungers. Pergola with dining table provides shaded eating.
Sunniest region in France with mountains to the north (Montagne Noire) and south (Corbieres). Surrounded by excellent restaurants and vineyards with lots of activities nearby (walks, swimming, windsurfing, tennis, golf, rugby, kayaking etc.)

Leather settees and dining chairs in lounge where there is a beautiful stone fireplace and TV with DVD/Blue Ray. There are also two armchairs in the sun lounge. The large open plan kitchen is fully equipped and has an oven, microwave, hob, washing machine and dishwasher. Upstairs there is a sofa bed and additional TV and DVD/Blu Ray player in the sitting area off one of the bedrooms. There are two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs. Two of the bedrooms have king sized beds, one has a double bed and one has two single beds, with a sofa bed in the adjoining sitting area. A travel cot and high chair are also provided, although you will need to bring your own bedding for the cot. There is a shower room upstairs, and downstairs there is a bathroom with walk-in shower and a bath. All bedrooms and the kitchen and lounge have air conditioning - essential for those hot summer months. A selection of tourist information is available and a guide to the area is provided.

Beautiful private 10m x4m pool with steps and shallow end. The pool terrace is a real sun trap. Eight sun beds are provided for you to relax on, and a pergola provides shaded dining area with large table and 8 chairs. Further shade is provided by a large parasol and there is a BBQ for alfresco dining. There is also a two-seater swing with awning.

The Languedoc-Roussillon, Aude region
Sunniest region in France. Major wine growing area with lots of good restaurants (30 Michelin within 25 km). There is so much to see in this area of France: beautiful villages, castles, abbeys and vineyards. Historic cities of Carcassonne, Minerve, Narbonne, Beziers and Perpignan. Plenty of sunny beaches, rivers and lakes with the Black mountains to the north and the Corbieres to the south.
Homps
La Pepiniere is in the lovely village of Homps which is situated on the banks of the Canal du Midi (UNESCO World Heritage site). The villa is a 7-8 minutes’ walk from the canal which has lots of tourist boats passing by in the summer. Two-hour cruises on the Canal du Midi can be boarded at Homps. Six restaurants and a bar can be found on the canal side. There is a supermarket within walking distance (0.5km), or a number of larger supermarkets in driving distance, Olonzac (3km), Lezignan (11km), Rieux (14km), Trebes (26km) and Narbonne (28km). There is an excellent market at Olonzac each Tuesday morning and an ever bigger market at Lezignan on Wednesdays.

Historic sites include Minerve, Carcassonne, Beziers, Narbonne, Perpignan and many Cathar castles, including those at Lastours, Queribus and Peyrepertuse. There is swimming and kayaking at the local lake, which has a man-made beach, and river Aude.
Getting there
Fly budget airline to Carcassonne (40km), Beziers (72km), Perpignan (85km) by Ryanair, or Montpellier (125km), Toulouse (138km) by Easy Jet. Homps is on the Canal du Midi on the D610 from Carcassonne to Beziers.
A car is recommended if you want to explore the area, but if you just want a quiet relaxing holiday around the pool it is possible to get the train to Lezignan Corbieres which is a short taxi ride away from Homps.
