Central Buxton apt in Spring Gardens
Nestled 2 floors above the bustling Spring Gardens high street lies this cosy apt. Within, tasteful decor with pops of colour from plants and artwork create a comfortable and contemporary feel. Wash away your stress in a marble bathroom equipped with rain shower. Whip up a tasty meal anytime in the compact yet fully loaded kitchen. Within 8 mins walk away are the Pavillion Gardens, Opera House, Cavendish Arcade and Crescent. The unbeatable location makes this Buxton bolthole truly one-of-a-kind.
Open concept of living-diner-kitchen. Spacious bedroom. Walk in shower.
The apartment is self-containing. There are 2 apartments per floor.
I aim to respond to your questions within an hour. I live about an hour and a quarter away so might not be able to get there at a drop of a hat.
There are an eclectic collection of independent shops peppered around the apt. The lively cafes, shops, and galleries along Spring Gardens are just steps from your door. Those seeking a culinary experience will be spoiled with choices from Greek, French, Italian to Thai and Indians cuisines but to name a few. A variety of grocery stores like Waitrose, Morrison (small) and Iceland are within 2-3 mins walk away for those who prefers to rustle up a meal in the comfort of the flat's full kitchen. The Spring Gardens Shopping Centre is a 2 mins saunter, and the historical boutique Cavendish Arcade is 4 mins. The Crescent, Opera House and Pavillion Garden within 8 mins stroll away. Despite the building is along the high street, the evenings are normally reasonably quiet.
The nearest parking (less than 1 minute away) is Spring Gardens Car Park SK17 6BW but it is up to 4 hours only and no return for the day. The cost is £1.20 for up to an hour, £1.80 1-2h and £3.10 2-4h. The chargeable times are 0800-1800 Mon to Sun.
Whole day parking is available at Sylvan Car Park SK17 6BY and is 2.5 min walk away. The cost and chargeable times are the same as above, and £3.90 for 4-10h. Overnight parking is permitted. Maximum stay 10 hours.
I would recommend using Pay by Phone to pay.
There is a 3 sedan car length loading bay just next to the building entrance door. This is regularly policed by the council warden. You certainly can off load your luggages here. The warden will time 5 mins if he sees no one is in the car.
The apartment is on the second floor. Unfortunately there is no lift. Considered your daily workout towards a long life included :)

Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Patrick Chiam
Used to backpack solo, explored different cultural terrain and unchartered territories around the world! Now happily settled as a full time dad. When I am not chasing my kids around, I potter between my kitchen and garden. Like a border collie, I can never sit still for long. Love culinary experiments. Inspired by the philosophy of Stoicism and Buddhism. Aim to be self-sufficient, nature-loving and to leave the world a bit better than I found it.
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Buxton is just brimming with charm! What makes it so special, you ask? Well, it's a wonderful mix of incredible natural gifts, stunning old buildings, and a fascinating past that’s all thanks to its famous thermal waters. Can you believe these "healing" waters were enjoyed by the Romans thousands of years ago? Even today, you can pop along to St. Ann's Well for a taste of the water – even the famous Buxton Mineral Water is bottled right from them!
Beyond nature's generosity, Buxton is a real feast for the eyes with its gorgeous Georgian and Victorian architecture. Much of this beauty comes from the 5th Duke of Devonshire, who, back in the 18th century, dreamed of making Buxton as grand as Bath. And he certainly succeeded! There's the incredible Devonshire Dome, which once held the record for the largest unsupported dome in the world – even bigger than the Pantheon in Rome at one point! It started life as stables, then became a hospital, and now it’s part of the University of Derby. And there is the exquisite Edwardian Opera House - home to the internationally acclaimed Buxton Festival every summer, which is a real treat for lovers of opera, music, and books, plus loads of other shows all year round.
Buxton's history is full of intriguing tales. Did you know Mary Queen of Scots was held in The Old Hall in the 16th century and visited the springs for their healing power? The town also proudly claims two of the "7 Wonders of the Peak": Poole's Cavern, a spectacular natural cave with amazing formations, and Solomon's Temple, a charming Victorian folly on Grin Low that offers breathtaking views of the Peak District.
The lovely Pavilion Gardens are perfect for a stroll, with beautiful flowerbeds, fun play areas, and even a miniature railway. And being England's highest market town, Buxton also boasts wonderfully fresh "mountain" air, which definitely adds to its reputation as a place to feel refreshed and revitalised.
