16th Century Merchant's House Ste Foy La Grande Nr Bergerac ✈️ Sleeps 4 NEW!!
Location Nr Bergerac ( 15 miles- 30 minutes drive from airport and Bordeaux airport 1 hr approx. ) You can hire a car from the airport no- or pre book on line a hire car from Location E. Leclerc Pineuilh and take a taxi there ( 30 minutes ) which is a lot cheaper. You could take a train from Bergerac and the station is 10 minutes walk from the house in Ste Foy La Grande. We like to take the overnight ferry crossing Portsmouth to St Malo and drive down taking about 7 or 8 hours arriving about 5:00pm. The house is about 100 meters from the river Dordogne.
15 minutes walk to the beach
20 minute drive to Lac de Gurzan water sports.
30 minutes from Lac de Pombonne nr Bergerac.

This beautiful traditional home is situated in a quiet spot in the heart of a small bastide ancient town.
It boasts as holding the largest market in the SW of France selling fresh local produce , les fruits de La mer, cheeses, wine artisan pottery jewellery and clothing. You will fall absolutely in love with the house, the town and the area around. Just relax and become emerged in the French culture of this historical town.
What to do in the town?
Take an historical walk around medieval Ste Foy La Grande using a guide leaflet from the local tourist office, and admire the charm and beauty of these ancient buildings and magnificent church.
Enjoy a glass of wine down by the river, an excellent spot for bird watching and fishing. The beach on the other side is lifeguarded and convenient for swimming, sunbathing and canoeing.
The town also benefits from a theatre and cinema.
Where to eat
The property has the advantage of being close to the square where events such as music and food festivals take place on Thursday evenings in the summer weeks.
There are various restaurants and bars dotted throughout the town.

I live near Wells Somerset in England. I’m retired and whilst on holiday fell in love with this small historical Bastide town and bought this elegant house so I could immerse myself in the culture of real France. I welcome you to enjoy and share the beauty of this locality in the heart of this major wine growing area of the Dordogne. Enjoy your stay exploring the vineyards and medieval chateaux and of course relaxing sunbathing and swimming. The beach and river are only a few minutes down the road and the lakes of Lac de Gurson 20 minted drive and the lake of Pombonne near Bergerac.

It has all the advantages of being in a small town which is very French in terms of it being truly local and not overbearing with busy tourism but has its fair share of restaurants and bars. It is in a quiet spot but near the square where entertainment takes place. The house is 2 minted from the river and there is opportunity for sunbathing and swimming.

The house is unique because it has an historical tasteful quality both inside and out and is beautifully furnished in a way that combines the traditional with the new. There are lots of items of curiosity and fun so take a look in our Curiosity Cupboard and see if you can identify them. Although only 2 bedrooms the property is really spacious and it has lovely high ceilings.
