Magnificent lakeside 300 year old barn in idyllic Sonning Eye. The gentle trickle of the open lake brings a tranquil setting, in the summer evenings toast marshmallows around the fire pit and lay out a champagne picnic by the pond. This truly magical gem is just a mere 8 minutes drive from Henley-on-Thames and just a minute away from the renowned French Horn restaurant and popular Sonning-on-Thames.
Rustic charm meets pure luxury - a stunning getaway for 12 guests in Sonning Eye. This gorgeous conversion wows guests from the moment they arrive.
Entry is through large double doors, with floor to ceiling glass, into a generous open plan hallway which leads onto the living/kitchen area which has clearly been designed for socialising.
The huge open plan lounge and kitchen is full of character and charm, featuring striking floor to ceiling windows and beams. A modern kitchen awaits, with a large dining table and plenty of seating for all, will inspire lengthy, relaxed breakfasts and endless dinners where guests can feast. The kitchen is kitted-out with every convenience the modern cook could wish for. As the area is open plan, the cook never needs to miss a moment of the fun. After dinner, retire to the large sofas for coffee overlooking stunning views across the pond.
At bedtime chose from one of the four meticulously designed bedrooms, all beautifully furnished, with beds dressed with crisp linens and scatter cushions, and all including their own bathrooms. One bedroom also features a standalone bath tub and lounge area which features a sofa bed to sleep a further 2 more guests.
After hours of taking in the scenery, grab the popcorn and drinks and continue the evening in the second lounge in front of a movie.
Outside is just as versatile and impressive as the interior, with a large sunny private patio, which is home to sun loungers, an outside dining area. There is also a pond directly in front of the house can be fenced off with prior notice for the safety of young children and dogs. The lawned garden is a big enough space for playing football and other outdoor games to keep children and adults alike entertained. The garden also features a BBQ, fire pit and a basketball court. Please note that we do not provide wood, firelighters or matches.
Guest should be aware that the stairs leading to one of the bedrooms are very steep.
Dogs are very welcome to join you during your stay; however, please note that they must not be left unattended at the property at any time. Please note that there is an additional £30 charge per pet.
- No access beyond the ditch/stream near the edge of the lake as this is private land
- No Hens or Stags
- Please no candles due to the thatched roof
- Please do not smoke inside or outside of the property
- The fireplaces are not in use and are not to be used
- Please ensure the BBQ and fire pits are at least 10 metres away from the barn (insurance purposes), Please do not move the fire pit, it needs to stay near to the basketball court area only.
- Please no fishing or swimming in the lake
- Please ensure all dog mess is picked up from the garden
- No charcoal, wood, firelighters or matches are provided for the BBQ so you will need to bring your own
- Please clean the BBQ after use
- Please ensure all windows are locked with the keys provided when leaving the property as well as locking and bolting all doors
- We have an alarm, the code will be provided in your check in details
- We have a camera for security reasons facing the driveway and the garden area, please do not unplug these
- The garden is entered at guests own risk due to open waters.
- No unauthorised visitors
- No events or parties please
- The outside areas are out of use after 11pm to keep noise levels down to respect our neighbours. If guests are found to be using the outside areas after 11pm then you will be asked to leave as we do not want complaints from the neighbours.
- Please be respectful with noise levels when playing music during the day, no music after 11pm inside our outside the property.
- Please do not leave the fire pit unattended
- If you haven`t already please provide names of guests over the age of 18.
- Please note we have a noise detector in the open plan dining/kitchen/living area to make sure the noise levels are acceptable to respect our neighbours. We will alert you if the noise levels rise beyond an unacceptable level.
- The trampoline is to be used solely by children only and not adults, the trampoline should only be used from 9am to 9pm.
-No charging of electric cars please
- The fire pit is put away for winter and available for summer months only
- Please ask if you need a fence put up around the pond
