The farmhouse is located on top of a hill in the southern part of the Dordogne in the middle of the woods. Here is real privacy and tranquility, Les Cartelades is the perfect base for spotting the woodpecker, hawk, oriole, deer, boar, roe deer, orchids and special butterflies such as the checkerboard. The house is located near a number of Grand Randonnees (GR) where beautiful walks can be made along ancient Romanesque churches, abbeys, castles, through forests and along rivers. The abbey of Cadouin is nearby. There is a small lake (plan déau) for swimming in Prats de Perigord (6 km) and the Dordogne river is 15 km away. A canoe trip on the Vézère river is a special experience with kingfishers, dragonflies and fish such as trout, eel and pike. The markets of St. Cyprien and Sarlat are worth a visit as well as the new cave of Lascaux.
