Clifton Cottage is a spacious three-bedroom townhouse in the Clifton Conservation Area, just a five-minute walk from the seafront and moments from Brighton’s shops, pubs, restaurants and nightlife. Sleeping up to 12 guests, the house combines period features with characterful interiors and a private courtyard garden, making it well suited to families or groups looking to stay centrally while enjoying a quieter residential street.

The Space:

Ground Floor



Living Room

The living room features two large sofas, including one that converts into a double sofa bed (sleeps 2). There is a large flat-screen TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, iPod dock and WiFi. Additional sleeping options include a single foam chair bed and a folding guest bed, allowing flexibility for larger groups.



Dining Room

The conservatory dining room overlooks the rear garden and is a real highlight for group stays. An extendable table with bench seating comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests, making it ideal for shared meals. Electronically operated ceiling sun blinds provide shade and comfort throughout the day.



Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped and conveniently located just off the conservatory dining room. Facilities include an electric oven and grill with gas hob, slimline dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave - practical for both short breaks and longer stays.



Courtyard Garden

A private, high-walled rear patio garden with tables and seating for up to eight guests. A welcome outdoor space and rare fin for al fresco dining, drinks or relaxing away from the bustle of the city.



Bathroom 2

A ground-floor bathroom with corner shower cubicle, WC and wash basin - useful for larger groups and added convenience.

Bedroom 1: The Monroe Room (sleeps 3)

A bright and characterful bedroom with a double bed and a decorative Juliet balcony. An additional single fold-up bed allows the room to sleep up to three guests comfortably.



Bedroom 2: The Blue Room (sleeps 2)

A calm and comfortable double bedroom with built-in storage, offering a peaceful retreat after a day exploring Brighton.

A spacious family bathroom featuring a king-size bath, separate walk-in shower cubicle with Aqualisa power shower, wash basin and WC.



Second Floor



Bedroom 3: The Eagle’s Nest (sleeps 4)

This loft bedroom offers flexible sleeping with a double bed, a single pull-out bed and a folding guest bed. As typical of historic Brighton townhouses, it is accessed via a narrow, steep staircase from the landing.

The house was a good location in terms of being close to everything but there was 2 main points that we was not happy about. 1) the cleanliness of the house, all carpets were dirty, you wouldn’t want to walk around with nothing on your feet! It was visibly dirty!The top bedroom had moldy curtains.There were cobwebs in the 3 bedrooms and the kitchen was dirty, like someone had thrown a cup of coffee in the sink and not washed it out and the fridge was not clean either.The sofa bed in the living room when pulled out was full of food crumbs so not very pleasant for our friends to sleep on as everything felt unwashed / used.2) the noise, we was reminded multiple times by this chat the advertisement and the owner that there is a noise limit and how the previous guest lost there deposit money due to a noise complaint and we can’ttalk in the garden after 10pm yet the house is situated next to a pub that is open until 11:30 and then all night until around 4am there were people shouting outside the property.

On the cleanliness, the owners carried out a thorough inspection following your feedback. The inspection didn't replicate all of the concerns raised, they did identify a stained curtain lining in the top bedroom and have arranged for this to be professionally cleaned, so thank you for bringing that to their attention. The property is cleaned to a regular schedule and we're sorry if it fell short on this occasion. On the noise point, the property is located in a lively part of the city close to pubs and restaurants, and we do our best to make that clear to guests in advance. The reminders about the property's noise policy are intended to protect guests' deposits and maintain good relations with neighbours, not to make anyone feel unwelcome in their holiday home. The owners met you on arrival and made themselves available should any issues arise during your stay. Whilst no concerns were raised at the time, and they would have welcomed the opportunity to investigate them during your visit, we appreciate that feedback is sometimes shared after departure and we take it seriously whenever it is received. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us continue to review and improve the guest experience.
