The Space:
Foxglove Cottage offers a cosy and comfortable retreat, perfect for a relaxing stay. For self-catered breaks, the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need, including a fridge, washing machine, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, and all necessary utensils. Central heating ensures you stay warm and comfortable throughout the year, while a charming log fire creates the perfect ambiance for cosy nights in. The inviting bedroom features a double bed with fresh linen, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom is conveniently equipped with a toilet and shower. The cottage is pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along to enjoy the stay. Modern amenities, such as complimentary Wi-Fi and a television, are provided for your convenience and entertainment.

The village is characterised by its charming stone cottages, historic buildings, and welcoming community. There are many local highlights to the area including Calver Weir, an impressive stone weir on the River Derwent, offering scenic views and opportunities for leisurely walks and picnics with family and friends. On the doorstep to the property is Calver Bridge, a historic bridge that adds to the village’s charm and provides a great spot for photographs. Alternatively you can visit the multiple bars, cafes and restaurants in the area. Enjoy traditional local ales at the various pubs throughout the village, such as The Derwentwater Arms and The Bridge Inn.
Getting Around:
Getting around Calver and the Hope Valley area in the Peak District can be done fairly easily using a combination of buses, trains, and walking. However, public transport in this region is less frequent compared to urban areas, so it’s important to plan ahead.
Calver itself does not have its own train station. The nearest train stations are in Grindleford (about 2 miles away) or Hathersage (about 4 miles away). Located on the Hope Valley Line, Grindleford Station connects you to Sheffield (to the east) and Manchester (to the west). It's also a great starting point for hiking and exploring the Peak District. The Hope Valley Line is relatively frequent, with trains running every 30 minutes during peak times, but less frequently at weekends or evenings. The stations are well-situated for accessing local walking routes or for commuting to nearby cities.
There are several local bus routes serving the Hope Valley and Calver area, providing connections to nearby villages, towns, and cities. The 272 bus route runs daily, although runs less frequently on evenings and weekends. It connects Calver to Sheffield via Hathersage, Bamford, and Grindleford.
