Acerca de este alojamiento
Dabinett, Set in Beautiful Gardens, Parking
Summary:
In a tranquil valley between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, Dabinett is the self-contained wing of an enchanting Georgian house in stunning gardens offering a truly romantic retreat. With 2 bedrooms, accommodating 3 guests, Dabinett features an antique-tiled wood-burner, a well-equipped handcrafted kitchen, high-speed internet, smart TVs, and two private terraces overlooking the gardens, one ideal for coffee in the morning sun and the other a sun trap for a quiet afternoon.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire self-contained private wing and two terraces.
The Neighborhood:
This base nestled in a valley between the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park offers the perfect escape for lovers of nature, walking, and rural tranquillity. But you needn't travel too far, as the famous West Somerset Railway steam train stops a short walk from the property. Step back in time and enjoy the ride to Watchet, with its artists' studios, cafes and galleries on East Quay, and on to Minehead. You can also easily cycle to the Rocking Horse Cafe or Bicknoller Inn for lunch in the garden.
The Quantock Hills, England’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are just moments away. Ideal for hiking, horse riding, or mountain biking through heathland, wooded combes, and along dramatic ridges with sweeping views across the Bristol Channel.
To the west lies Exmoor National Park, where wild ponies roam the moors and rivers cut through deep, wooded valleys. Walks here range from gentle riverside strolls to challenging hill climbs, with highlights including Tarr Steps, Watersmeet, and Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor’s highest point. Be sure to book Woods in Dulverton for lunch or dinner - a personal favourite!
Porlock Weir is the perfect spot for a sundowner and pizza on the terrace at The Porlock Weir Hotel. Porlock Weir also offers kayaking and paddleboarding. The nearby coast offers equally stunning landscapes. Kilve, East Quantoxhead, and Lilstock beaches are perfect for fossil hunting, rock pooling, and peaceful coastal walks on the South West Path.
History lovers can explore the medieval village of Dunster, home to a spectacular castle and charming tea rooms. This is also accessible via the steam train.
Local villages such as Crowcombe, Holford, and Stogumber offer traditional pubs, farm shops, and a taste of Somerset life. Whether you're walking, train spotting, wildlife watching, stargazing under Exmoor’s dark skies, or simply relaxing with countryside views, this lovely valley is a haven for a restorative and nature-filled retreat.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of the area, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay. Free parking for 2 vehicles is available on the driveway.
Other Things to Note:
The property has a maximum 28-day stay. Longer stays are considered on request.
We only accept corporate bookings or those where the booker is not the person staying with prior approval.
Please feel free to get in touch to discuss either of the above!
