Angler’s Cottage is a beautifully renovated cottage nestled in the heart of Bridford, a quintessentially picturesque Devon hamlet with a documented history dating back to the 9th century. Situated in the scenic Teign Valley it serves as the perfect base both to soak up the rich history of the area and to explore all that Devon has to offer. In the cottage itself guests can warm themselves by the log burner while enjoying the property’s other features which include a TV with freeview and streaming access, wifi and charming details such as steampunk inspired fittings. As the name suggests, we have many guests who travel to the area for angling trips, but however you choose to spend your time, your stay at Angler’s Cottage offers the perfect Devon getaway.
The Space: The cottage has been renovated recently and has been kitted out with all modern appliances. Upstairs – Please be aware the bedroom access is via a steep ladder style set of beautiful wooden stairs . Also be mindful that to access the properties bathroom which is upstairs , you need to go through the bedroom.

The Neighborhood: 🍽️ The Bridford Inn is a family 17th century free house offering a range of cask ales and fantastic 🍺 food. High above the valley floor, there are panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the pubs' gardens. With its stone walls, beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace, this is a gem of a pub. Other local Inns in the area are The Nobody Inn (Doddiscombsleigh, 10 mins drive) – A historic pub with an extensive wine and whisky selection. The Cridford Inn (Trusham, 15 mins drive) – A charming 11th-century thatched inn serving local produce. The Five Bells Inn (Clyst Hydon, 35 mins drive) – Award-winning gastro pub.
St Thomas A Becket Church is meters away dates from the property. Dating back to 15th century its 500 year old rood screen is one of greatest works of art in Devon
🎣 Angling options abound but include Coarse Fishing; Exeter & District Angling Association Waters (30 mins drive) – Several lakes and river stretches near Exeter with carp, pike, bream, and tench. Bakers Farm Fishery (25 mins drive, near Newton Abbot) – Well-stocked coarse fishing lakes with carp, bream, and roach. Sea Fishing Teignmouth (40 mins drive) – Plenty of shore fishing spots and charter boats for deep-sea fishing. Expect bass, mackerel, pollock, and conger eels. Brixham & Torbay (50 mins drive) – Popular for boat trips targeting bigger species like cod, ling, and tope. As with all angling, local knowledge can be a great help. The Inn is a great place to ask.
⛱️ Coastal day trips; Teignmouth & Shaldon (40 mins drive) – Sandy beaches, seaside cafes, and a Victorian pier. Torquay & Babbacombe (50 mins) – Classic seaside resorts with attractions like Kents Cavern and the Babbacombe Model Village.

Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) – A museum featuring a wide range of exhibits, from archaeology and natural history to fine art and world cultures. Exeter Quayside – A picturesque area along the River Exe, offering charming shops, cafes, and opportunities for boat tours or cycling along the canal. Rougemont Castle – The remains of a medieval castle that offer beautiful views over the city. St. Nicholas Priory – A well-preserved medieval building, once a monastery, now offering insights into Exeter’s history. The Exeter Underground Passages – A fascinating network of medieval tunnels beneath the city, which you can tour to learn about Exeter’s past.
