The Neighborhood:
Nestled in the heart of West Wales, the towns of Llanelli and Carmarthen offer a rich blend of coastal scenery, historic intrigue, and warm Welsh hospitality—making them the perfect base for exploring the region.
Llanelli, once a hub of the tinplate industry, has evolved into a vibrant seaside town with a strong local identity. It’s home to the Millennium Coastal Path, a scenic 13-mile stretch perfect for walkers and cyclists, and Sandy Water Park, a tranquil lake surrounded by nature trails. Families will love Pembrey Country Park, with its expansive beach, forest walks, and outdoor activities from dry-slope skiing to tobogganing. Llanelli’s town centre offers a relaxed mix of high street shops, cafes, and traditional markets, while the nearby Parc y Scarlets stadium welcomes rugby fans from across the globe.
A short drive north brings you to Carmarthen, often regarded as one of the oldest towns in Wales. It’s a place steeped in legend—linked to Merlin of Arthurian fame—and rich in history, from Carmarthen Castle to its centuries-old market streets. The town’s winding lanes reveal a mix of independent boutiques, galleries, and cosy eateries serving hearty Welsh fare. The River Towy runs through its heart, offering riverside walks and a sense of calm.
Together, Llanelli and Carmarthen offer visitors a little of everything—coastal beauty, countryside calm, rich heritage, and a genuinely warm welcome. They’re ideally placed for day trips to the Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire Coast, or Gower Peninsula, with good road links and a relaxed pace that invites you to slow down and stay awhile.
Getting Around:
If you're staying at Cliftonville, getting around is straightforward, with nearby essentials just a short distance away. The closest village is Llanarthne, less than half a mile from the property. You can walk there in around 10 to 12 minutes by heading north from the house and turning right onto the B4300. It's a gentle stroll along a country road, and once you reach the village centre, you'll find a small local store and a welcoming pub-restaurant—perfect for picking up a few essentials or enjoying a bite to eat.
For a wider selection of shops, Carmarthen is the nearest large town, just over 7 miles away (about a 12-minute drive). Simply follow the B4300 west from Llanarthne and it will take you straight into town. Carmarthen has everything you might need during your stay, including large supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, and both independent and high street shops. It’s a lovely market town with plenty of character, offering a convenient mix of practicality and charm.
If you're travelling by car, there's usually free parking in Llanarthne and plenty of parking options in Carmarthen. Walking is ideal for shorter errands to the village, while a quick drive opens up the full range of amenities nearby.
Other Things to Note:
We accept a maximum of 2 pets at this property. The first pet is free of charge and the second pet is £35 fee.
Please do not enter the surrounding fields under any circumstances.
Interaction with Guests:
