The bustling port town of Cowes sits at the mouth of the River Medina, divided into two distinct towns linked by the regular floating bridge chain ferry. Both have plenty to offer visitors: Cowes is world-famous for yachting, with superb facilities for all kinds of watersports, excellent restaurants, friendly inns, and unique independent shops. East Cowes is home to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s Italian-style country retreat – a tour of the royal apartments and magnificent gardens is a must.

Cowes is the perfect base for exploring the rest of the island – from sandy beaches and lovely walking country to picturesque chines and family attractions.
