Elevated Riverside Retreat with River Dart Views
NEW Listing! Perched above the River Dart, Kittiwake is a beautifully presented coastal retreat offering relaxed luxury in one of Dartmouth’s most sought-after locations. With far-reaching river views, generous living spaces, car park permit and a calm, contemporary feel throughout, this is the perfect base for memorable stays with family or friends. Regrettably not suitable for children under 5.
Here at Your Devon Escape we intend to leave you alone to enjoy your visit but we are on hand if need be to answer any queries or questions you may have.
Kittiwake is a short walk from Dartmouth’s unique town centre and the many river cruises and ferries. Blackpool Sands is the closest beach, a five-mile drive or a one hour and half walk away along the South West Coast Path.
The property is on the South West Coast Path so simply step out the front door to enjoy. Take a short walk to Dartmouth Castle and Sugary Cove, or take the ferry across to Kingswear and visit The Daymark to experience the beautiful views.
Families with adventurous young explorers are sure to love nearby Woodlands, just five miles out, where all-weather fun is guaranteed. With a mixture of rides, indoor and outdoor play areas, and even a toboggan run, you’re sure of a good day out. Or why not step away from the shore and take one of the many boat rides which can be caught from the waterfront, with sights to see including historical Greenway Holt, the home of Agatha Christie, and a selection of nautical wildlife too, from seals to sea birds.
Dartmouth is an all year round destination hosting a variety of regional events like the yearly Dart Music Festival (May), the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta (August), and the Dartmouth Food Festival (October).
Kittiwake is a stunning place to stay in Dartmouth, look no further.
Guests have full use of the entire house and garden throughout their stay.
Step inside and you’ll immediately feel at home. The light-filled living areas are designed for both comfort and connection, whether you’re gathering for slow breakfasts, unwinding after a day on the water, or enjoying evenings together as boats drift past outside. Large windows frame the ever-changing river scene, bringing Dartmouth’s charm right into the heart of the home.
The well-equipped kitchen makes self-catering a pleasure, ideal for everything from simple suppers to celebratory meals, while the adjoining dining space invites long, leisurely evenings spent sharing stories and local wine.
With four thoughtfully furnished bedrooms and two bathrooms, Kittiwake comfortably accommodates larger groups while still offering privacy and quiet corners to retreat to. Crisp linens, quality furnishings and a neutral coastal palette ensure a restful night’s sleep after days spent exploring.
Outside, soak up the views and fresh sea air — the perfect spot for morning coffee, sunset drinks or simply watching life unfold on the river below.
Just moments from Dartmouth’s vibrant town centre, you’re perfectly placed to explore independent shops, exceptional restaurants, scenic coastal walks and the stunning South Devon coastline. Whether you’re planning lazy beach days, river adventures or a refined food-focused break, Kittiwake offers space, style and a truly special setting to return to.
Walking distance to central town. Twelve miles from Totnes, the nearest train station.
Parking:
The property has no parking on site; however, you can pull up to unload in front of the main entrance to the property. Once inside you can collect the parking permit for one car and head to the main central car park (Mayors Avenue) which is located opposite M&S, just a ten minute walk from the property.
For additional cars we recommend that during the main season (May-September) the 'Park and Ride' offers the best solution with regular buses running through the day.
Children:
Due to the nature of the layout with stairs, we only accept children over the age of 5.
Pets:
Regrettably no pets allowed.
Mobility:
Given the property layout, we would advise it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or young children.
Rental Conditions:
Prior to your stay, we require you to complete a pre-arrival form and sign & agree to our rental conditions.
