Acerca de este alojamiento
2 Bed in Upton (oc-867)
Managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, this 150-year-old redbrick cottage sits within a leafy garden in the little village of Upton. Located 2.5 miles from the market town of Acle on the edge of the Upton Broad and Marshes nature reserve, this picture-perfect property welcomes up to five guests and two playful pups. Within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads, the east coast beaches and the fine city of Norwich, it offers an idyllic Norfolk escape for families and friends.
Blending old world charm with contemporary comforts, this traditional cottage is light and spacious with excellent attention to detail throughout. Exposed beams, brick walls and feature fireplaces are complemented by neutral colours and stylish furniture. Bathed in natural light, the living room has a feature fireplace with a warming wood burner, a selection of books and games, a TV and DVD, and a choice of comfortable seating. In the summer, throw open the patio doors to the garden, or curl up with a book in the light-filled conservatory. Rustle up hearty breakfasts and family suppers in the bright and fresh kitchen, then gather around the dining table or dine alfresco on warm summer days. When it’s time for bed, head up the steep cottage-style stairs to the two tastefully decorated bedrooms. In keeping with similar properties, the family bathroom is on the ground floor.
Wander out from your front gate and join the 4.5-mile circular walk through the nature reserve, watching for wildlife, or head to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens just 2.5 miles away. Visit Winterton beach (13 miles) to see the seals in winter and swim in summer; you can also pick up the Norfolk Coastal Path from here. Inland, the historic city of Norwich offers two cathedrals, a castle, museums, medieval lanes and independent shops and eateries.

perfect getaway in Norwich/Broads
Nice house on a quiet road. Everything you need in a holliday home is foreseen. We liked the fireplace because of the strong winds and rain so we felt cosy en comfortable
The stars is a littelebit steep, but walking it with a bit attention made no accidents. We had a great time, would book it again.

Watts Cottage is a very nice place to spend a few quiet days exploring the Norfolk Broads. The conservatory is a very nice light a airy space to sit and spend a few quite hours reading. The mature garden is ideal for sitting out and secure for anyone with dogs. The wood burner in the living room is also very nice on cold evenings.
A couple of other points that are worth considering to potential guests.
The stairs to the upper floor are very steep with narrow treads. You need to be very careful when descending. Certainly not for anyone with issues with balance or when bleary eyed in the middle of the night going to the loo which is on the ground floor.
Also, during our stay we had a storm and wind which knocked out the power, sporadically, in total for nearly 2 days. The owners who live next door were helpful in providing candles and torches but I did wonder about why nothing has been done about resilience to power outages. The owner admitted that power has always been an issue and they had lived there for over 40 years! Current technology with solar panels or a small wind generator with battery backup would resolve this recurrent issue. We just found it a bit disruptive with us only staying a week and we did have to dispose of some food in the fridge.
All the being said, overall, a really nice place to stay. Thanks for having us.
