Acerca de este alojamiento
Kirkland Cottage Ennerdale Lake District
A snug and welcoming small two bedroom cottage offering comfortable sleeping accommodation for up to four guests. Kirkland village sits on the edge of the Western Lake District boasting views over Ennerdale water and the surrounding fells.
The cottage is situated on the main road through the village. It’s position makes it perfect for visitors looking to access wonderful walks, water and outdoor adventure.
The cottage is small but well equipped. It has one double room with fell views and another small single room with bunk beds suitable for children aged 6 and over and for adult guests happy to accept less space.
Porch:
The front door opens to a convenient porch area with multiple hooks, and a wet shoe tray for outdoor gear.
Living Area:
This leads through to a snug sitting room, lovingly furnished with a stylish mix of modern and traditional furniture. Again the space is small but there’s a two seater sofa and a comfy arm chair offering guests a place to relax, chat or plan the next day’s adventure. If all guests are involved then there’s also the option of an extra folding chair (easily accessible but optional to maximise the limited space). If entertainment is needed, then choose from the small selection of card games on offer or browse the books left by us or previous guests. There’s a smart TV with a good speed of wifi available for anyone wanting to stream from their own Netflix or Amazon account. During colder months the log burner is fully working and on brighter days, the room is East facing, so do make the most of the morning sun!
Kitchen/Ultility room:
The kitchen/dining area is small but well equipped space, with electric cooker and induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. A sample amount of pods are provided for our guest’s first coffees. Relax and enjoy whilst listening to your own audio choices on the Alexa speaker provided. An antique pine table and bench seating for four guests provides a practical eating space and could also be used for working or that all important map reading! To save our guests doing all the washing up, a dishwasher is located to rear the of kitchen in the utility area. There’s also a washing machine, clothes airer and a double bike rack for guests who value being able to store these inside overnight.
Outside:
With the sun rising at the front, the bench at our entrance offers a great spot for morning cuppa. THERE IS NO GARDEN OR SECURE OUTSIDE SPACE (dog owners please note that dogs are not permitted in the rear yard) but we are lucky to have a wonderful village location, with great views and access to public paths within minutes.
Bedrooms:
The staircase is steep so access will be more difficult for very young children or for people with limited mobility. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms. The first sleeps two and has a double bed. The second has adult suitable bunk beds (also suitable for children over 6), providing flexible accommodation for two more guests. Both rooms have been thoughtfully designed with touches of our traditional/modern style and a good a level of function as the space allows.
The bathroom has an electric shower over bath, WC and heated towel rail. The bath water is heated by emersion and with a fairly small tank, there may be limited hot water to fill this, depending on your usage. A simple space but with all the essentials!
Parking is on the street.
Guest access
Access to full property but no accessible garden or yard space except to access bins. Out of respect for our neighbours, dogs are not allowed in the rear yard, many thanks for your help with this.
Other things to note
There is only room for one small to medium well behaved dog. We love dogs but do ask that they remain downstairs during your stay. We know this can be difficult to manage so there is a stair gate provided should you need it. This helps our cleaning team and allows us to keep welcoming our guest’s dogs, so thanks very much for your help.
As a family ourselves we welcome families and have bunk beds suitable for children age 6 and over. The floor space in the house is limited so guests may not find it suitable for small children who need room to crawl around or play.
Please note that you might also find floor space more limited if you are a party of four, especially if you also bring a dog.
Additional rules.
A maximum of four guests to comply with our insurance policy.
Strictly no smoking or vaping
Please park on the road outside and be as considerate as possible to other road users and to our neighbours in this small friendly village.
The yard space to the rear of the cottage is shared with our neighbours and is not for general use by guests or dogs.

We also ask that are not allowed on the furniture here at Kirkland Cottage. If you know that they are likely to do this or just want to protect from muddy splash then there is a paw print throw in the glass cabinet that will cover the sofa seats. This helps our cleaning team and allows us to keep welcoming them, so thanks very much for your help.
