✅Pegli
A seaside village nestled between the hills and the sea, with a mild climate year-round, it has retained its ancient seafront setting, with its promenade and beaches (both public and private).
Greenery also plays a key role, with villas and parks, and the nearby hills are perfect for walking and mountain biking, offering breathtaking and breathtaking views of the Ligurian coast.
The Villa Durazzo Pallavicini Park with its adjoining Botanical Garden is just a few steps away, a true gem of a historical-romantic garden. Designed as a scenic-theatrical itinerary in three acts, it immerses you in art, nature, spirituality, lakes, caves, architecture, and the largest and oldest camellia garden in Italy.
Navebus is an urban boat that connects Pegli to Genoa's Porto Antico, offering a panoramic view of the city from the sea. From the Porto Antico, trips depart to coastal towns such as Portofino, San Fruttuoso di Camogli, the Cinque Terre, and excursions to the Whale Sanctuary.
✅ Genoa
"Superb for men and for walls..." wrote Petrarch, the charm of this city nestled between the mountains and the sea, a crossroads of different peoples and cultures, has captivated writers, poets, and singer-songwriters, who have recounted its beauty, its contrasts, and its hidden soul in their verses. Strolling through the city, you can admire noble palaces and ancient churches, lose yourself in the maze of characteristic alleys (caruggi) of the old town, visit museums and exhibitions, and the Lanterna, the symbol of this city.
Not to be missed:
- The historic center, the Strade Nuove, and the Palazzi dei Rolli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Palazzo Ducale, the former residence of the Doge, is today the main cultural hub with exhibitions, conferences, shows, festivals, and international events
- Vertical Genoa: funiculars, elevators, and rack railways allow you to reach the most difficult places and find yourself faced with breathtaking views
- Porto Antico and Waterfront, designed by architect Renzo Piano, home to the Genoa Aquarium, the Bigo, Eataly, the Biosfera, Galata Museo del Mare, cultural centers, shops, shopping arcades, restaurants, and clubs. In the summer, you'll find a swimming pool. In the winter, an ice-skating rink.
- Boccadasse: the iconic fishing village with its colorful houses clinging to the rocks. It also fascinated Disney, who set the film Luca here with the big cat Seppia, known for his characteristic frowning expression.
- The 100 Historic Shops for curiosities, shopping, and crafts
- The evening nightlife with aperitifs, historic and trendy bars, traditional trattorias, and Michelin-starred restaurants.
- The parks of Nervi, a seafront promenade overlooking the sea with a large park, rose garden, and its museum.
- Castello d'Albertis, a fanciful neo-Gothic residence overlooking the city, the legacy of the eccentric Captain d'Albertis, a story waiting to be discovered.
- The Museums, 30 within a 10 km radius, 9 collections nestled in the greenery, 8 historic museum houses, 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites, 8 museums with breathtaking views.
- The Forts (18), a collection of military fortifications dating back to different eras to defend the city, now immersed in the Parco Urbano delle Mura. They represent one of the most evocative green spaces in Europe, ideal for walks, more challenging hikes, mountain biking, but also picnics and birdwatching.
- And then the food, what a delight! In Genoa, it's delicious! Trofie with pesto, potatoes, and green beans, and focaccia are the most famous of Genoese cuisine, but there are countless culinary delights that will make your taste buds explode with joy.
✅ Let yourself be surprised by this splendid city, leaning towards the future yet guarding a great past.
