Large communal gardens (shared with other properties on-site). BBQ available on request. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. This property has a Juliette balcony and large patio doors with views overlooking established woodland and is ideal for families and groups of friends. Amherst House’s interior is smart and contemporary. Guests enter from the courtyard, or directly through the patio doors that open onto views of woodland. The generous ground floor living space comprises a useful lobby area, with plenty of room for coats and shoes, a huge and airy kitchen/dining area, with further patio doors opening onto a south facing Juliette balcony, a comfortable living room, and a shower room with over-sized shower and sensor lighting.
Upstairs the two bedrooms (one twin room and one double bedroom) have ample storage and quirky triangular windows. There is also a further family bathroom, with bath and over-bath shower. Finally, leading on from the double bedroom is a bonus room, which has a cot as well as a single bed. There are no windows in this room, negating the need for blackout blinds for early risers, but cheery bunting and furnishings make it very attractive to mini guests. The cottage boasts contemporary luxuries in the form of flat-screen Smart TV, Wi-Fi internet, dishwasher, combination microwave oven and washer/dryer with the usual appliances in the fully fitted kitchen. The semi-walled mature communal garden is a great space to enjoy evening dinners and drinks.
Enjoy walks and cycle rides from the door, with easy access to the neighbouring village shop, restaurants, and pubs. You will find local pubs within 2 miles of the estate or an 8-minute drive away. You could take a walk or drive 1½ miles to Wyken Vineyards, to browse in their lovely shop, buy some Wyken wine, or sample local produce from the Saturday Farmer’s Market. For children, there are animals in the meadow (including llamas) and a woodland walk (open April-September).
The historic market town of Bury St Edmunds is nearby where you can walk through the beautiful Abbey Gardens, with the remains of the 11th century abbey, plus a lovely playground and ducks a plenty to feed. Explore the market square (market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays) or take a tour round the Greene King Brewery (every day, varying times).
Lavenham is a 35-minute drive away, famous for its wealth as a medieval wool town, with over 300 listed buildings and huge church tower - Guide yourself on a fabulous walk of the town and discover the leaning houses and many other treats.
The Coach House (Ref UKC4947), Symmonds House (Ref UKC5530), Langetot (UKC4948), and Stearn Cottage (UK17917) can be booked together to accommodate 24-31 guests, they are situated close together in the courtyard area of Stowlangtoft Estate.
