The Space:

Phaedra sits on the first floor, in the centre of Agia Efimia and only about 30 metres from the sea. An inviting world of colour and considered design takes over. Lemon tones, soft light and curated original art, including paintings and mosaics, lend the apartment a sophisticated warmth that feels genuinely lived in.

The single level living area is shaped around comfort and conversation, with a sofa bed that opens up. Natural light pours in throughout the day, and the artistic touches give the room real personality.

The kitchenette is fully equipped for breakfast or a relaxed home cooked meal, with an espresso machine, a filter coffee maker and everything else you might need during your stay. It flows naturally into the living area, so cooking and unwinding happen in the same easy rhythm.

A separate bedroom keeps sleeping space restful and quiet, with a comfortable queen bed.

The bathroom is finished in clean modern lines, with a walk in shower and toiletries replenished.

WiFi runs throughout the apartment.

The Neighborhood:

Agia Efimia is a working harbour village on the eastern coastline of Kefalonia, set inside a sheltered bay framed by pine clad mountains and looking directly across to Ithaca. The atmosphere is unhurried and authentically Greek, with fishing boats, summer flotillas and waterside tavernas running parallel to a refurbished quay. Phaedra sits in the centre of the village, where everyday needs are covered by a well-stocked local market just across the street, a conveniently located bakery, a pharmacy, an ATM, and a laundry service two minutes on foot. The position is genuinely central for the island, with easy reach to the north, south and west.

The closest swim is right at the village edge, where a pebbled harbour beach and a string of clear water coves line the coastal road toward Sami. Agia Paraskevi beach, about 3 km south, is one of the area's most loved stretches, with white pebbles, turquoise water and waterfront cafes. Antisamos, around 14 km away, is a Blue Flag pebble bay backed by green hills and famous for its role in Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Myrtos, about 13 km west, is the iconic 700 metre arc of dazzling pebbles set between two mountains, easily one of the most photographed beaches in Greece. Further north, Assos beach, about 25 km away, curls around a Venetian castle promontory.

Inland, Mount Ainos National Park rises to over 1600 metres and shelters Kefalonia's wild horses, with hiking trails through endemic black fir forest. Melissani Lake, about 5 km south, is a luminous underground lake reached by a short rowing boat ride, and Drogarati Cave, about 8 km away, is a vast natural chamber with stalactites and acoustics that have hosted classical concerts.

For sights, the harbour itself runs daily cruises to Ithaca and Lefkada, while Fiscardo's Venetian colour, about 28 km north, makes for a classic day out. The Acropolis of Ancient Sami and the Agioi Fanentes Monastery, around 10 km away, reward a morning of walking. Local life centres on fresh seafood, Robola wine, olive oil from the hills and lively summer festivals with traditional Greek music.
