Sleeping ten guests across five restful bedrooms, this is the perfect base for families and large groups of friends planning days of adventure and celebratory evenings together. Just 7 miles from the market town of Cockermouth and 5 miles from seaside Workington, both countryside and coastal outings are made easy. For scenic walks and dramatic landscapes, the famous Lake District National Park awaits just 3.5 miles away. Here, venture to Loweswater (7 miles) to follow a winding trail towards Holme Force waterfall and Holme Wood, or head to Crummock Water (9 miles) or Buettermere (12 miles). Travel to Whinlatter Forest (10 miles) to marvel at England’s only mountainous forest. Bustling Keswick (19 miles) makes for a charming visit, as does the National Trust’s Wordsworth House and Garden (7 miles).
As you approach this beautiful country home, take a moment to appreciate its historic exterior and the far-reaching countryside views that set the scene for a memorable Cumbrian escape. This well-appointed space boasts everything needed for cooking up group feasts, which can be enjoyed in the elegant dining room. For some post-dinner relaxation, the first of two sumptuous lounges awaits on the ground floor, offering soft seating and a Smart TV perfect for cosy movie nights. Allowing the group to spread out, a jaw-dropping first-floor lounge offers a step back in time with its exposed stone walls and wooden beams, as well as plush furniture arranged around a roaring wood burner – offering the perfect solution to days spent in the elements. Allowing for easy indoor/outdoor living, this space features French doors opening onto a scenic balcony with fantastic rural views. When it’s time to call it a night, enjoy a choice of five beautiful bedrooms. The first is on the ground floor, a flexible super king-size room that can convert to two singles on request and is served by a nearby wet room. The remaining four bedrooms await upstairs. Choose from a master super-king-size room with an en-suite bathroom, a super king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin room that converts to a super king on request and a king bedroom. Completing this magnificent home is a family bathroom with a bath and shower.
Head outside each day to make full use of the fantastic garden that almost wraps around the property. Watch the children run wild on the lawn while the adults relax on the outdoor furniture for evening tipples.
