Perched with fabulous sea views near the village of Cockburnspath (1.5 miles), this spacious stone-built cottage is a brilliant base for friends and family keen to discover the wild beauty of Berwickshire and East Lothian’s coastline. Start nearby at the beautiful village of Cove (2 miles), where a charming harbour and sandy beach make a lovely setting for a relaxed wander, rock pooling or a picnic by the shore. For classic seaside atmosphere, head to Dunbar (10 miles) or Eyemouth (14 miles) – both bustling coastal towns with beaches, harbours and cafes. History and scenery combine in Coldingham (11 miles), a picturesque village known for its welcoming inns, the ruins of a 7th-century priory, and the stunning sweep of Coldingham Bay, popular for surfing and long coastal walks. Wildlife lovers shouldn’t miss St Abbs (12 miles), a postcard-pretty fishing village and gateway to the National Nature Reserve.
Step through the door of this striking red sandstone seaside house and into a hallway that sets the tone for a coastal stay. Continue into the bright, airy lounge where French doors frame sparkling sea views and lead straight outside. Settle in with a film on the Smart TV or light the wood burner for snug evenings after breezy beach walks. The generous kitchen is ready for everything from lazy breakfasts to celebratory dinners, with a large dining area that brings everyone together and French doors opening onto the rear garden. A separate utility room with direct outdoor access is just the spot for dogs, sandy shoes, coats and kit after days out exploring. Also on the ground floor, you'll find a shower room and an inviting double bedroom with a pop of colour. Upstairs are four further bedrooms, each individually styled and continuing with the colourful accents. The master super-king-size zip-and-link room boasts lovely sea views and an en-suite shower room, and can be arranged as twins on request. Three additional super-king-size zip-and-link bedrooms (also convertible to twins) provide flexible sleeping for mixed groups. A spacious family bathroom completes this floor.
Outside, the enclosed garden is set up for long, sociable evenings, with seating and dining areas with a charcoal BBQ for meals in the fresh sea air. With off-road parking for up to ten cars, group arrivals are easy.
