Town: A bustling town a short drive north east of Manchester. Bolton is a fantastic, historic town offering something for everybody, a great place to base a holiday. It was heavily involved in a lot of wars and the industrial revolution, there is also the 13th century Ye Olde Man and Scythe pub which is worth a visit. Bolton boasts beautiful buildings, in the 26 conservtion areas there are 700 listed buildings to go and discover. There are some fantastic activities on offer, as well as a great range of shops, restaurants and pubs. There is also a theatre, museum and an aquarium to enjoy. The River Croal runs through Bolton, the town offers a selection of beautiful parks, perfect for sitting with a picnic. The incredible city of Manchester is just a short drive away and is certainly worth a visit. It has a well-known culture and is famous for its football and music, there is also fantastic shopping and so much to do. The city of Liverpool has similarities, with the addition of the Albert Docks which are beautiful and waiting to be explored.
