I'm very sorry that Jamie A. and her family didn't have the outstanding vacation experience they expected. Especially, in the 18 years since we built the house, we never had anyone report that a bat had gotten inside. That is certainly distressing to us as to Jamie. None of our neighbors ever reported such a thing, so it took us completely by surprise when Jame reported it. Thank heavens the CDC test of the bat came back negative for rabies. Certainly, that experience had a greatly negative effect - and there is nothing we could have done to prevent it. A bat can fly in an open door undetected in the moment someone is walking through it. Only 3 of Jamie's many complaints were mentioned to me while she was at Pinewoods, and none were documented with photos - easy to document with a cell phone camera. She never told me about a problem with dampness. In her review she says: "The biggest issue for my family, was the dampness in the downstairs, which is where 2 of the bedrooms are located. The twin room never dried out, the carpet was damp the entire week, even with a dehumidifier running non stop, a fan and windows open." Her problem was that she defeated the dehumidifier by opening the windows. Per dehumidifier instructions: “Close the windows and doors in the area where you use the dehumidifier. Moisture coming from outside can stress the machine and may damage it.” Had she mentioned the dampness to me, I would have made sure she was using the dehumidifier properly. Then the rooms would have been dried out, as with everyone else who has used it. - Roger S.

Our cleaning company hired new cleaners for our property. We saw them being trained, but apparently not thoroughly enough! We have insisted on retraining. Will re-mention linens requirement in driving directions email. However, It is stated in bold-faced type in the contract signed in advance by renters. But that could be forgotten, so as I said, going forward we'll reemphasize close to the rental date. Thanks for the good rating overall! - Roger & Sally
